Hardness of Rough Surfaces

Nature Physical Science, 1971
DURING research on the contact of solid surfaces we have been examining the deformation under load of single asperities. These are formed by turning cones of base diameter about 0.2 mm on metal surfaces and are pressed against a hard anvil under known loads. The resulting flats are examined by relocation profilometry1 and by optical microscopy.

Hard surface cleaners

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1981
AbstractThree key points for hard surface detergent making are: knowledge of raw materials, understanding of product application, and use of adequate test methods. The enormous variety of hard surface cleaner applications leads to a wide spectrum of product types.

Hard surface detergency

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1961
In a study of hard surface detergency using glyceryl trioleate, oleic acid, and octanoic acid soils with three types of anionic and three types of nonionic syndets, only potassium laurate showed maximum detergency at the CMC (critical micelle concentration), with the potassium laurateoctanoic acid system being an exception.

A Hard Look at Running Surfaces

The Physician and Sportsmedicine, 1990
If running were controlled by OSHA, it probably would be banned. A runner hits the ground with a force of three to five times his or her body weight-a shock that is repeated over and over until the run ends. The type of surface can play a critical role in lessening the shock and therefore the risk of injury.

Surface Integrity in Hard Turning

2003
Highly-stressed steel components, e.g. gears and bearing parts, are appropriate applications for hard turning. Therefore the process effects on significant engineering properties of work materials have to be carefully analyzed. Roughness, residual stresses and white layers as parts of surface integrity, are function of the machining parameters and of ...

HARD SURFACE CLEANING AGENT

1995
Acid cleaning agents for hard surfaces (pH 3.0 to 6.5) contain a C8-C11 alkylglycoside and a C6-C12-alkylpropoxyethoxyether (PO from 0.5 to 3; EO from 4 to 12).

SURFACE HARDNESS TESTING WITH FILES

2017
<div class="section abstract"> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Hardness testing with files consists essentially of cutting or abrading the surface of metal parts, and approximating the hardness by the feel, or extent to which, the file bites into the surface.

Thermodynamic Properties Of Hard Sphere Fluid Near Hard Surface

The system of hard-spheres is a commonly used model in statistical mechanics to ,describe the quasi-universal structure, the phase behaviour, physical properties and the particle dynamics of a wide range of systems such as atomic liquids and solids. The model of hard-spheres or hard disks (hard-sphere in 2d) forms an important part in the history of ...
