Construction of Antibacterial Surface Via Layer-by-Layer Method
Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2018Construction of antibacterial surfaces or films is of great interest in various fields including biomedicine, food, agriculture and so on. So far, a number of antibacterial agents have been used to construct antibacterial surfaces. Layer-by-Layer (LbL) assembly is a simple and versatile deposition process for fabricating multilayer thin films with ...

Control of Cell Surface and Functions by Layer-by-Layer Nanofilms
Langmuir, 2010Various nanometer-sized multilayers were directly prepared onto the surface of mouse L929 fibroblast cells by a layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly technique to control the cell surface microenvironment and cell functions, such as viability, morphology, and proliferation.

Texturing of Layered Surfaces for Optimal Viewing
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2006This paper is a contribution to the literature on perceptually optimal visualizations of layered three-dimensional surfaces. Specifically, we develop guidelines for generating texture patterns, which, when tiled on two overlapped surfaces, minimize confusion in depth-discrimination and maximize the ability to localize distinct features.

Unpolymerized Surface Layers on Sealants
Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1981Oxygen inhibits radical polymerization, and for the present investigation, the thickness of the resulting unpolymerized surface layer on various proprietary dental polymers was measured by a microscopic technique. The inhibition depth of the polymerized resins varied from 7 to 84 micrometers.

Surface reconstruction in layer-by-layer sputtering of Si(111)
Physical Review B, 1991Using scanning tunneling microscopy, we have investigated vacancy-mediated, layer-by-layer removal of surface atoms from Si(111) under 225-eV Xe-ion bombardment. We observe, with increasing substrate temperature, both the transition from vacancy-cluster nucleation to step retraction, and a transition from disruption to preservation of the 7\ifmmode ...

Planetary boundary layer and surface layer sensitivity to land surface parameters
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 1996The sensitivity of the development of the convective planetary boundary layer (PBL) and the surface layer are examined using a coupled surface parameterization and detailed PBL model. First, the coupling is verified against observations from the First ISLSCP (‘International Satellite Land Surface Climatology Project’) Field Experiment (FIFE).

Hydrogen, and Semiconductor Surfaces and Surface Layers
1992In this chapter we will concentrate on the effects of hydrogen ion bombardment on the near-surface region of semiconductors. A related area is the termination of surface bonds by atomic hydrogen. It is immediately clear from a consideration of the various processing steps involved in fabricating even a simple semiconductor device or circuit that there ...
