Design of surface microrelief with selective radiative properties
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1994The radiative properties of a material can be modified by its surface microrelief. We show that if the typical length of the surface roughness is smaller than a fraction of wavelength, the roughness can be treated as a homogeneous equivalent layer. Using this model and standard optimization techniques, we have developed an algorithm for the design of ...

Formation of diffractive microrelief on diamond film surface
Optics & Laser Technology, 2007Abstract The fabrication of diamond-based optical elements for high-power CO2 lasers is of particular interest because of low optical absorption, high thermal conductivity and weak temperature dependence of the refractive index of diamond. In earlier publications, we presented the results of the implementation of ion-chemical etching technology for ...

Diffraction on birefringent elements with sine surface microrelief
Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2008Abstract— Light diffraction on optically anisotropic substrates using sine surface microrelief has been calculated by using the OAGSM method. The influence of the microrelief depth and material birefringence on the diffraction intensity on the order of 0–3 is reviewed and discussed.

Photoinduced Alignment of Nematic Liquid Crystal on the Polymer Surface Microrelief
Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2000A polymer film surface modified by laser illumination was used as a command surface for nematic liquid crystal (LC). Azobenzene-containing polyurethanes were taken for the material of the film. A relief grating inscribed by laser illumination onto the surface of these polymers induced a reorientation of the LC director from the initial homeotropic ...

Diffraction gratings made from optically anisotropic material with surface microrelief
Journal of Optical Technology, 2021The diffraction of polarized light transmitted through an optically anisotropic substrate with surface microrelief is calculated using the Exedeep program (optically anisotropic lattices with surface microrelief). The diffraction parameters are determined in different diffraction orders of transmitted and reflected TE and TM waves for materials with ...

The Surface of the Skin — The Microrelief
1993The surface of a body is by definition its outer part which limits it in any direction. More importantly, it is the visible covering of the body. This simple fact has considerable sociological importance, which immediately justifies the interest that researchers have taken in studying the skin for the past 10 years or so.

The Spatial Dependence of Soil Surface Microrelief
2006Surface microtopography of tilled soils is subject to spatial and temporal changes. The objective of this study was evaluate the spatial dependence of point elevation data on two cultivated soils located at Northwest Spain. Sixty-six microrelief data sets were obtained on bare plots. Each data set consisted of 4624 point elevations on a 20 mm grid. The

Preparation, morphology and physical properties of microrelief InP surfaces
Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 1993Abstract The morphology of microrelief InP surfaces, prepared by anisotropic chemical etching without masking and the kinetics of this etching were studied. A statistical analysis of surface profiles shows that the surface studied has a Gaussian roughness distribution and the ratio of root-mean-square surface roughness δ to autocorrelation length σ ...

Surface-enhanced photoemission in Schottky diodes with microrelief interfaces
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 2000The internal photoemission current of Au–GaAs Schottky barriers with interfaces like a diffraction grating have been investigated. The surface plasmon-polariton excitation is shown to be an additional mechanism that contributes to an increase in the internal photoemission current.

Surface Microrelief Influence On Hydrogen Interaction With Materials
2002The problem of hydrogen isotope recycling in fusion devices is of crucial interest due to two main reasons: the first one is the tritium retention in fusion materials, the second one is the problem of adequate reactor operation at wall fuelling and plasma particles exhaust by PFC [1].
