Interference‐Induced Cavity Resonances and Imaginary Rabi Splitting

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Coupling of a two‐level emitter to (a, b) a single‐mode resonance with a Lorentzian spectral density, and (c, d) a two‐mode cavity with a more complex spectral density. This work reveals a new polaritonic regime beyond the single‐mode description, emerging from emitter interaction with the interference‐induced resonance associated with the Fano ...

The Design of Random Surfaces with Specified Scattering Properties: Surfaces that Suppress Leakage

open access: yes, 1999
We present a method for generating a one-dimensional random metal surface of finite length L that suppresses leakage, i.e. the roughness-induced conversion of a surface plasmon polariton propagating on it into volume electromagnetic waves in the vacuum ...

Reciprocal Quantum Electrodynamics With Bound States in the Continuum

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Quantum electrodynamics accurately describes all known forms of modern optics and photonics regarding interactions between photons and matter. In this context, bound states in the continuum with photon confinement in momentum space are envisioned to open an exciting branch called reciprocal quantum electrodynamics. It complements the cavity counterpart

Real-time observation of ultrafast Rabi oscillations between excitons and plasmons in metal/molecular aggregate hybrid nanostructures

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We demonstrate ultrafast coherent manipulation of the normal mode splitting in metal/molecular-aggregate nanostructures by real-time observation of Rabi oscillations between excitons and surface-plasmon-polaritons. Oscillations in exciton density on a 10-

Ultrasensitive Tunable Terahertz Sensor via Critical Coupling‐Enhanced Fano Resonance

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
This work presents a hybrid terahertz sensor via the combination of graphene‐strip metasurface, cavity resonance, and gold film polaritons. The sensor achieves critical coupling with an ultrahigh‐Q resonance and tunable FOM with stable high sensitivity via gate voltage regulation, exhibiting excellent performance for on‐chip integrated biochemical ...

Long‐Range Polariton Canalization in a Graphene‐Nanoribbon–Covered MgTeMoO6 Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Simulated Re(Ez) field distributions at ω = 924 cm−1 for the graphene grating, MgTeMoO6 grating, the proposed hybrid structure, and the corresponding IFCs in (kx, ky) space are shown. Re(Ez) field maps in the x–y plane at ω = 924 cm−1 for Ef = 50, 70, 74, 76, 80, and 88 meV.

Optical Skyrmions Modulation Based on Polarization Helicity

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
The polarization helicity represents the global twisted property of the polarization state distribution, it can be used to modulate the spin skyrmion texture in the tight focusing of the radially polarized vortex light. By adjusting the polarization helicity of incident field, the Néel‐Bloch‐Néel transition of the spin skyrmion texture can be realized,

Transmission of surface plasmon polaritons through atomic-size constrictions

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We study the excitation and propagation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on a micron-sized thin gold stripe. Grating couplers are embedded for both excitation of SPPs and detection after propagation.

Loss Compensation and Coherent Virtual Absorption via Virtual Complex Frequency Wave Excitation

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
By establishing a mathematical bridge between real and complex frequencies, we present a general method for complex frequency wave excitation to obtain all electromagnetic responses at complex frequencies. Using properties of complex frequency waves, we compensate for the propagating loss of point sources and surface plasmon polaritons.

Polarization‐Selective Metamaterial Absorber for Long‐ to Very Long‐Wavelength Infrared Broadband

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Broadband and polarization‐selective metamaterial absorbers for long‐ to very long‐wavelength infrared light with high extinction ratios are designed and demonstrated, which provide a new method for broadband polarization‐selective absorbers. ABSTRACT Metamaterial absorbers have received extensive research interest and sustained attention due to their ...
