Land Surface Processes

2002
At the interface between the atmosphere and land, known as the land surface, exchanges of energy, mass and momentum take place. These exchanges are governed not only by the turbulent and molecular motions in the atmosphere, but also by surface soil hydrological processes and the behaviour of the continental biosphere.

Surface finishing processes

2000
Grinding is an operation performed by a rotating abrasive wheel, which removes metal from the surface of an object. It is usually a finishing operation which gives a good surface finish and high dimensional accuracy to workpieces which have already been machined by other methods. Very little metal is removed in this operation.

Land Surface Processes

1988
The exchanges between the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere are defined by equations which depend on the temperature and humidity of the surface. The different schemes used in GCMs to parameterize the surface temperature are reviewed. The budget equation for soil moisture is established and its impact on the evaporation rate is assessed.

Surface Process Equipment

2020
So far, we have examined a range of equipment from pumping jacks to drill bits. We have seen how down-hole equipment such as electric submersible pumps and well-logging devices need to be designed to meet not only the harsh conditions down the well, but also must be designed to be used within a narrow diameter bore.

Planetary Surface Processes

2011
Planetary Surface Processes is the first advanced textbook to cover the full range of geologic processes that shape the surfaces of planetary-scale bodies. Using a modern, quantitative approach, this book reconsiders geologic processes outside the traditional terrestrial context.
