Nanostructures for Surface Functionalization and Surface Properties
2012Modification and functionalization of substrates can lead to the presence at materials surfaces of molecular nanostructures. Their 2D packing and chemical functionalities may impart to surfaces particular properties that can be very different from the pristine ones.

Interfacial Properties of Interacting Surfaces
Europhysics Letters (EPL), 1995A gas of interacting surfaces with energy depending on area and mean curvature is described as an Ising spin model on a cubic lattice. The interfacial properties in the region where the nearly pure ordered phases and the high-temperature disordered phase coexist are studied.

The surface properties of bornite
Mineralogical Magazine, 1987AbstractThe surfaces of fresh and tarnished (through exposure to the atmosphere) bornite have been studied by measurement of reflectance and quantitative colour parameters in the visible region, X-ray photoelectron and Auger electron spectroscopy, and conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results of these studies, in combination with those of

Surface Antibacterial Properties of Compomers
European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry, 2006This was to evaluate the antibacterial properties of four different compomers, using direct contact test (DCT) and agar diffusion test (ADT). Compomers (Polyacid Modified Composite Resin) form a group of dental restorative materials which were developed in order to improve conventional glass-ionomer and are widely used by pediatric dentists in primary ...

Surface vibrational properties
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1985An overview is given of the principal types of surface vibrational modes that occur at a clean surface of a solid and the means whereby they can be studied experimentally. The modes that are discussed include long-wavelength surface acoustic modes (Rayleigh waves), short-wavelength surface acoustic modes, long-wavelength surface optical modes (surface ...

Surface properties of synthetic phospholipids
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1972Abstract 1. 1. Three kinds of dipalmitoyl dl -1-phosphatidyl-alkanolamines were synthesized in a pure state and the monolayer properties of these compounds and of the synthetic phosphatidylcholine were measured. Their conformations in monolayer in relation to the effects of the chemical structures of polar groups upon their surface parameters ...

Surface properties of bone mineral
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1961Abstract The charge and ionic interactions of the bone mineral surface have been studied by microelectrophoresis. In isotonic NaCl the surface has a negative charge, bu the sign and charge density can be altered by the adsorption of other anions and cations. In order of decreasing tendency of adsorption the cations studied are: Ca 2+ >Mg 2+ ⪢Cs + >K +

Surface Tension Properties of Surfactant
Clinics in Perinatology, 1993Surface tension area relations from pulmonary surfactants (natural, lipid extract, synthetic) are obtained with a leak-free captive bubble of controllable size. One of the most sensitive parameters to consider is the area change required to achieve minimum surface tension. For synthetic surfactant, this change can be minimized by increasing the cycling
