Surface and normal ensembles for surface reconstruction

CAD Computer Aided Design, 2007
The majority of the existing techniques for surface reconstruction and the closely related problem of normal reconstruction are deterministic. Their main advantages are the speed and, given a reasonably good initial input, the high quality of the reconstructed surfaces.

A benchmark for surface reconstruction

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2013
We present a benchmark for the evaluation and comparison of algorithms which reconstruct a surface from point cloud data. Although a substantial amount of effort has been dedicated to the problem of surface reconstruction, a comprehensive means of evaluating this class of algorithms is noticeably absent.

Molybdenum‐Promoted Surface Reconstruction in Polymorphic Cobalt for Initiating Rapid Oxygen Evolution [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, 2022
It has been well recognized that the surface reconstruction of electrocatalysts at the initial stage in the form of phase transitions, defect migrations, valence regulations, etc., plays a critical role in generating real, surface active catalytic ...

Robust Surface Reconstruction

SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, 2016
Summary: We propose a method to reconstruct surfaces from oriented point clouds corrupted by errors arising from range imaging sensors. The core of this technique is the formulation of the problem as a convex minimization that reconstructs the indicator function of the surface's interior and substitutes the usual least-squares fidelity terms by Huber ...

Surface reconstruction in parallel

[1992] Proceedings of the Fourth IEEE Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2003
By exploiting the structure of a directed toroidal graph, the authors have developed a parallel solution to find the shortest path. A parallel dynamic programming solution to finding the minimum cost path is presented. First the authors map the toroidal graph to a planar graph, whose structure is exploited to form a parallel algorithm suitable for a ...

Augmenting Surface Reconstructions

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR-Adjunct), 2016
The reconstruction of a scene is a fundamental task in many AR applications. Only a dense and complete surface representation enables realistic AR interactions, like occlusions and collisions. The reconstruction of arbitrary scenes is an important issue and many approaches have already been proposed.

Reconstruction of Surfaces of Revolution

First International Multi-Symposiums on Computer and Computational Sciences (IMSCCS'06), 2006
In the process of reconstruction of 3D textured models of revolution from images, the precise 3D shape of the revolution must be obtained in advance. This paper addresses the problem of recovering the 3D shape of revolution by symmetry property of revolution.

On stochastic methods for surface reconstruction

The Visual Computer, 2007
In this article, we present and discuss three statistical methods for surface reconstruction. A typical input to a surface reconstruction technique consists of a large set of points that has been sampled from a smooth surface and contains un- certain data in the form of noise and outliers. We first present a method that filters out uncertain and redun-

Au (100) Surface Reconstruction

Physical Review Letters, 1986
We study the structure of the reconstructed Au (100) surface, using a phenomenological Hamiltonian, including a many-body force term (the "glue"), carefully optimized to account for a vast variety of properties of solid and liquid gold. The optimal atomic configuration of (100) slabs is obtained by a molecular-dynamics strategy.

Detecting undersampling in surface reconstruction

Proceedings of the seventeenth annual symposium on Computational geometry, 2001
Current surface reconstruction algorithms perform satisfactorily on we ll-sampled, smooth surfaces without boundaries. However, these algorithms face difficulty with undersampling. Cases of undersampling are prevalent in real data since often they sample a part of the boundary of an object, or are derived from a surface with high curvature or ...
