Leaf Surface Reflectance Does Not Affect Biophysical Traits Modelling from VIS-NIR Spectra in Plants with Sparsely Distributed Trichomes

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
In this study, we examine leaf reflectance as the main optical property used in remote sensing of vegetation. The total leaf reflectance consists of two main components: a diffuse component, originating from the leaf interior, and a component reflected ...

Investigations on the Influence of Surface Textures on Optical Reflectance of Multi-crystalline Silicone (MC-Si) Crystal Surfaces-Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Renewable Energy Development, 2022
MC-Si is the most widely used material for making solar PV cells. In spite of the considerable research on improving the conversion efficiency of MC-Si solar PV cells still it remains well within the range of 15-20%.

DEVELOPMENT OF A MODEL TO CORRECT MULTI-VIEW ANGLE ABOVE WATER MEASUREMENTS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE BIDIRECTIONAL REFLECTANCE OF CORAL AND OTHER REEF SUBSTRATES [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2012
Spectral reflectance characteristics of substrates in a coral reef environment are often measured in the field by viewing a substrate at nadir. However, viewing a substrate from multiple angles would likely result in different spectral characteristics ...

On the analytic reflection of a minimal surface [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1993
For a long time it has been known that in a Euclidean space one can reflect a minimal surface across a part of its boundary if the boundary contains a line segment, or if the minimal surface meets a plane orthogonally along the boundary. The proof of this fact makes use of H. A. Schwarz's reflection principle for harmonic functions.

Contribution of shape and surface reflectance information to kinship detection in 3D face images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Previous research has established that humans are able to detect kinship among strangers from facial images alone. The current study investigated what facial information is used for making those kinship judgments, specifically the contribution of face ...

Reflectance and texture of real-world surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 1999
In this work, we investigate the visual appearance of real-world surfaces and the dependence of appearance on the geometry of imaging conditions. We discuss a new texture representation called the BTF (bidirectional texture function) which captures the variation in texture with illumination and viewing direction.

Color Differences on the Lunar Surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Both a detailed literature survey and a new observational study were performed to determine and extend the knowledge of spectral reflectivity differences (color differences) on the lunar surface in the extended visible wavelength region.

Position Information From Reflecting Surfaces

open access: yesIEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2021
In the context of positioning an agent with a single-anchor, this contribution focuses on the Fisher information about the position, orientation and clock offset of the agent provided by single-bounce reflections. The availability of prior knowledge of the agent’s environment is taken into account via a prior distribution of the position of virtual ...

Remote sensing reflectance reconstruction to obtain water optical properties from MERIS multispectral satellite images

open access: yes, 2010
We use a multiple regression analysis and a data bank of about 400 reflectance spectra to reconstruct hyperspectral reflectances between 400 and 900 nm with a 5 nm step using only the values known at the wavelengths of the MERIS sensor level 2 data.
