Complex structure of a DT surface with $T^2$ topology [PDF]
A method of defining the complex structure(moduli) for dynamically triangulated(DT) surfaces with torus topology is proposed. Distribution of the moduli parameter is measured numerically and compared with the Liouville theory for the surface coupled to c

Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Electrical and topological properties of oxides films grown thermally on InSe substrates [PDF]
The surface resistance dynamics of oxides grown thermally on InSe substrates in two crystallography planes is obtained. It is determined that resistance changes considerably only during the first 5 minutes of the oxidization period.

Water surface topology of supercritical junction flow
The complexity of flow conditions at junctions amplifies significantly with supercritical flow. It is a pronounced three-dimensional two-phased flow phenomenon, where standing waves with non-stationary water surface are formed.

On the profinite rigidity of surface groups and surface words
Surface groups are determined among limit groups by their profinite completions. As a corollary, the set of surface words in a free group is closed in the profinite topology.

The thick-thin decomposition and the bilipschitz classification of normal surface singularities
We describe a natural decomposition of a normal complex surface singularity $(X,0)$ into its "thick" and "thin" parts. The former is essentially metrically conical, while the latter shrinks rapidly in thickness as it approaches the origin.

Quantum oscillations and the Fermi surface topology of the Weyl semimetal NbP [PDF]
The Weyl semimetal NbP was found to exhibit topological Fermi arcs and exotic magnetotransport properties. Here, we report on magnetic quantum-oscillation measurements on NbP and construct the three-dimensional Fermi surface with the help of band ...

This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Magnetic surface topology in decaying plasma knots
Torus-knot solitons have recently been formulated as solutions to the ideal incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations. We investigate numerically how these fields evolve in resistive, compressible, and viscous MHD. We find that certain decaying
