A compactness preserving topology for products sets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the properties of certain topologies for a countable product of lattice isomorphic factor spaces. The idea of using lattice isomorphisms between factors to define a topology on a product space is due to ...

Topology optimisation: increasing the speed and reliability of design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, topology optimisation is applied to the design of the rear fuselage of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). A comparison is drawn between the performance of a design created through evolutionary structural optimisation (ESO) and a baseline ...

Arterial Spin‐Labeling MRI at the Cortical‐CSF Interface: A Novel Biomarker in Alzheimer Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objective Arterial spin‐labeling (ASL) MRI can measure perfusion signal adjacent to CSF spaces and may provide information regarding CSF‐adjacent water transport physiology. We developed an automated pipeline to extract cortical‐CSF interface (IF) perfusion for comparison between Alzheimer disease (AD) and cognitively normal ...

Whitney topology and spaces of preference relations [PDF]

open access: yes
The strong Whitney topology on the sets of maps of smooth manifolds induces a topology on the set of preferences in euclidean space. We prove that the obtained space is not connected which implies that there is no continuous social choice function ...

The Topology of Branching Universes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The purpose of this paper is to survey the possible topologies of branching space-times, and, in particular, to refute the popular notion in the literature that a branching space-time requires a non-Hausdorff ...

3-D topology optimization of single-pole-type head by using design sensitivity analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
It is necessary to develop a write head having a large recording field and small stray field in adjacent tracks and adjacent bits in perpendicular magnetic recording systems.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Experiments on the generalisation and visualisation of surface networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Parameterisation of a topographic surface into a framework of fundamental points and lines is a prominent research topic in geographic information science.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Structure of Oxidized and Unoxidized Surfaces of InTe Layered Crystals [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
Topology and structure of oxidized and unoxidized surfaces of InTe layered crystal were investigated using atomic force microscopy and X-ray phase analysis.
