Surface plasmon interferometry: measuring group velocity of surface plasmons
Optics Letters, 2007Optical transmission spectroscopy on metal films with slit-groove pairs is conducted. Spectra of the light transmitted through the slit exhibit Fabry-Perot-type interference fringes due to surface plasmons propagating between the slit and the groove. The spectral dependence of the period of interference fringes is used to determine the group velocity ...

Propagation Velocity of Surface Polariton
Frontiers in Optics 2014, 2014The concept of irreversible and reversible powers and that of real and reactive powers are developed with particular reference to the surface polariton. The characteristics of the surface polariton excited by a current source are obtained. The limitations of the various propagation velocities are examined.

Velocity inversion and predicting velocity slip on curved surfaces
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012Couette flow between two concentric rotating cylinders is a classical fluid dynamics problem that is discussed in many textbooks. However, under certain conditions, the flow between the cylinders can exhibit a highly non-intuitive behavior. For example, when the inner cylinder is rotating and the outer cylinder is stationary, it is possible to obtain ...
