Bayesian eikonal tomography using Gaussian processes
Eikonal tomography has become a popular methodology for deriving phase velocity maps from surface wave phase delay measurements. Its high efficiency makes it popular for handling datasets deriving from large-N arrays, in particular in the ambient-noise

Surface‐wave eikonal tomography in a scattering environment [PDF]
Surface waves are of increasing interest in seismic prospecting. Traveltime tomography based on dispersion measurements is often used to process surface-wave data, but it has limitations due to the a priori information it requires. The surface-wave eikonal tomography proposed here does not require such a priori information.

The potential of seismic cross-hole tomography for geotechnical site investigation [PDF]
Seismic cross-hole tomography has been commonly used in oil and gas exploration and the mining industry for the detection of precious resources. For near-surface geotechnical site investigation, this geophysical method is relatively new and can be used ...

Seismological reference earth model in South China (SREM-SC): Crust and uppermost mantle
The South China Block is located on the eastern margin of the Eurasian Plate and the western margin of the Pacific Plate. The South China Block is currently in a tectonically compressed environment, while the Tibetan Plateau is moving eastward and the ...

Cavity Investigation by Surface Wave Tomography and Microgravity [PDF]
Shallow cavities, such as karstic caves in carbonate bedrock and near-surface underground mine workings and tunnels, constitute serious hazards for persons and existing constructions due to the risk of collapse and subsidence involving damages to buildings and increased urban development costs.

Surface wave tomography in the european and mediterranean region [PDF]
The broad European and Mediterranean region is characterized by an extremely com- plex tectonic setting, driven by the ma jor convergence between Eurasian and African plates. A detailed model of the upper mantle in this region is fundamental to improve our understanding of its geodynamical evolution.

Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) for the internal characterisation of the Flüela rock glacier: overcoming the limitations of seismic refraction tomography [PDF]
A multi-method geophysical campaign was carried out to characterize the subsurface of the Flüela rock glacier in Grisons, Switzerland, using electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), seismic refraction tomography (SRT), and multichannel analysis of ...

We propose a new method to select the dispersion curve of Rayleigh and Love surface waves obtained from local and regional earthquakes. This method is efficient for the crustal tomography studies and the Central Anatolia is chosen to test it. The single-

Towards surface wave tomography with 3D resolution and uncertainty
Surface-wave tomography is crucial for mapping upper-mantle structure in poorly instrumented regions such as the oceans. However, data sparsity and errors lead to tomographic models with complex resolution and uncertainty, which can impede meaningful ...
