Management of penile fracture with complete urethral transection in a resource‐limited setting: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Key Clinical Message Penile fracture is a urological emergency that requires prompt surgical intervention for optimal outcomes. Early diagnosis based on clinical presentation and imaging if needed is crucial.

Circum-Arctic Changes in the Flow of Glaciers and Ice Caps from Satellite SAR Data between the 1990s and 2017

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
We computed circum-Arctic surface velocity maps of glaciers and ice caps over the Canadian Arctic, Svalbard and the Russian Arctic for at least two times between the 1990s and 2017 using satellite SAR data.

The surge-like eruption of a miniature filament [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report on the rare eruption of a miniature H_alpha filament that took a surge form. The filament first underwent a full development within 46 minutes and then began to erupt 9 minutes later, followed by a compact, impulsive X-ray class M2.2 flare with a two ribbon nature only at the early eruption phase.

A Close Look at the Local Structure of Functional Polymers: The Example of Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To accurately develop structure‐property relationships in functional macromolecules, it is increasingly important to consider the local chain arrangement in addition to long‐range order. It is demonstrated in the case of poly(vinylidene fluoride) that solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy can provide detailed insights into the local

Discovery of an Intrinsic Antiferromagnetic Semiconductor EuSc2Te4 With Magnetism‐Driven Nonlinear Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
EuSc₂Te₄, an antiferromagnetic semiconductor, exhibits a nonlinear Hall effect (NLHE) characterized by quadratic current–voltage behavior. Combined experimental and theoretical studies reveal that this NLHE is linked to its antiferromagnetism and involves contributions from the quantum metric.

Influence of Model Simplifications Excitation Force in Surge for a Floating Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbines

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
As offshore wind turbines move towards deeper and more distant sites, the concept of floating foundations is a potential technically and economically attractive alternative to the traditional fixed foundations.

Ternary Transistors With Reconfigurable Polarities

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐reconfigurable ternary transistors are demonstrated using black phosphorus homojunction with asymmetric contacts and split‐gate structures. Suppression of majority carrier injection, while Fowler–Nordheim tunneling of low‐density minority carriers persists, enables a well‐defined intermediate state with improved on/off ratios.

Cortical neurones with Ca2+permeable AMPA/kainate channels display distinct receptor immunoreactivity and are GABAergic

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 1994
A minority subset of cortical neurones exhibit kainate-activated Co2+uptake, a marker for AMPA/kainate receptor gated Ca2+-permeable channels. Consistent with enhanced Ca2+influx through these channels, Co2+-positive neurones are unusually vulnerable to ...
