Host Tuned Luminescence Lifetime Thermometers for Imaging Boiling Thermal Dynamics Through Bubbles

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The bismuth to vanadate distance is adjusted in solid solutions of ytrrium and scandium orthovanadate to design a lifetime‐based luminescence thermometer with optimal temperature resolution at 100 °C. It is applied on the surface of a boiling channel to observe the thermal signatures of bubble growth and liquid film dry‐out.

The Rush to Fit In

open access: yes, 2018
A week ago, I had been dead set on not rushing. I had heard the rumors and beliefs of my peers, that Greek life encouraged excessive drinking and partying, that hazing was still incredibly prevalent and demeaning, that Greek life worked only to ...

Engineering of Double Absorber Organic‐Perovskite Solar Cells for >34% Efficiency with V2O5 as Back Surface Field Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study investigates high‐efficiency double perovskite active layer (DPAL) structures using MAPbI3 and MASnI3 to surpass the Shockley‐Queisser limit in single‐junction perovskite solar cells. SCAPS‐1D simulations show that the V2O5‐assisted DPAL device achieves 34.14% power conversion efficiency with improved JSC, VOC, and FF.

Studying Abroad with a Mental Illness

open access: yes, 2017
Whenever anybody asks me about my experience studying abroad, I lie. I tell them that it was transformative, that I returned a more confident, learned, and enlightened person.

Low‐Strain Flexible Ink‐Based Sensors Enable Hyperelastic Inflation Perception Via Geometric Patterning for Balloon‐Type Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Integrating proprioceptive capabilities in balloon‐type robots enhances safe human–machine interactions. Traditional pressure estimates are inadequate due to nonlinear relationships. Instead, embedding stretchable sensors effectively measures deformation. This design optimizes sensor geometry to minimize damage risks.
