Removal of Steroid Hormone Micropollutants by an Electrochemical Carbon Nanotube Membrane Flow‐Through Reactor: Role of Concentration and Degradation Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.

2D Phosphorene‐Decorated Ni‐Rich Layered Cathodes for High‐Power and High‐Energy Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conformal coating of 2D phosphorene nanosheets is decorated on Li[Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1]O2 cathodes to enhance fast charge–discharge performance and structural stability under high mass loading and low carbon content. As a result, it exhibits improved power capability, cycle stability, and suppressed structural degradation, offering a promising strategy ...

Integrated Metallo‐Dielectric 3D Hotspots From High Refractive Index Nanodiamond‐Plasmonic Gold Cryosoret Nano‐Assemblies for Photonic Crystal Enhanced Fluorescence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a novel sensing platform using metallo‐dielectric cryosoret nano‐assemblies and lossless photonic crystals to overcome limitations of conventional plasmonic biosensors. The hybrid system enhances both electric and magnetic field interactions, enabling amplified fluorescence, ultralow detection limits, and prism‐free, objective‐free ...

Surges

open access: yesJournal of International Economics, 2012
This paper examines why surges in capital flows to emerging market economies (EMEs) occur, and what determines the allocation of capital across countries during such surge episodes. We use two different methodologies to identify surges in EMEs over 1980-2009, differentiating between those mainly caused by changes in the country's external liabilities ...

Cortical neurones with Ca2+permeable AMPA/kainate channels display distinct receptor immunoreactivity and are GABAergic

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 1994
A minority subset of cortical neurones exhibit kainate-activated Co2+uptake, a marker for AMPA/kainate receptor gated Ca2+-permeable channels. Consistent with enhanced Ca2+influx through these channels, Co2+-positive neurones are unusually vulnerable to ...

The First Year Frat Experience

open access: yes, 2019
It was September 14th and my three weeks were up. I had told myself I had three weeks to make friends. Three weeks before Greek life would dominate the social scene. Publicly, I decried the three week rule, writing it off as dumb or lame.
