A Spline-based Partial Element Equivalent Circuit Method for Electrostatics [PDF]
This contribution investigates the connection between Isogeometric Analysis (IgA) and the Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) method for electrostatic problems. We demonstrate that using the spline-based geometry concepts from IgA allows for extracting circuit elements without a meshing step.

Alcohol‐free and low‐alcohol beers: Aroma chemistry and sensory characteristics
Abstract Alcohol‐free beers have gained popularity in the last few decades because they provide a healthier alternative to alcoholic beers and can be more widely consumed. Consumers are becoming more aware of the benefits of reducing their alcohol consumption, and this has increased the sales of nonalcoholic alternatives.

DNA damage contributes to age‐associated differences in SARS‐CoV‐2 infection
Our data suggest DNA damage contributes to age‐associated differences in SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and provide a novel target for anti‐viral intervention. Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), is known to disproportionately affect older individuals.

Tuning the phase transition dynamics by variation of cooling field and metastable phase fraction in Al doped Pr$_{0.5}$Ca$_{0.5}$MnO$_3$ [PDF]
We report the effect of field, temperature and thermal history on the time dependence in resistivity and magnetization in the phase separated state of Al doped Pr$_{0.5}$Ca$_{0.5}$MnO$_3$. The rate of time dependence in resistivity is much higher than that of magnetization and it exhibits a different cooling field dependence due to percolation effects.

Stabilization of gas-filled surge arrester’s characteristics by use of ionizing radiation [PDF]
This paper investigates the stabilization of electrical discharges in gases by means of external ionizing radiation. Discharges in a gas-filled surge arrester model were studied in both passive and active regimes of the device. An originally developed

On the Validity of Arrest as a Proxy for Offense: Race and the Likelihood of Arrest for Violent Crimes [PDF]
The risk of re-offense is considered in decision-making at many stages of the criminal justice system, from pre-trial, to sentencing, to parole. To aid decision makers in their assessments, institutions increasingly rely on algorithmic risk assessment instruments (RAIs).

A wide-range model for surge arresters : verification analysis [PDF]
This paper verifies and analyzes the proposed wide range (WR) model for surge arresters. The verification analysis of various surge arrester models is performed; 1) on the model itself independent of power systems, and 2) by considering that surge ...
