Utilização da técnica do varal para angioplastia de estenose de veia central com stent-graft Utilization of the through-and-through technique for central vein angioplasty using stent-graft

open access: yesJornal Vascular Brasileiro, 2012
A estenose de veia central é uma das situações mais frequentes em pacientes com insuficiência renal crônica em hemodiálise. A angioplastia com o uso de stent-graft tem obtido bons resultados nestes casos.

Risk assessment of arteriovenous fistulas focusing on the relationships between the properties of shunted blood flow sounds and a medical/surgical history of hemodialysis patients

open access: yesPLOS One
The global prevalence of end-stage kidney failure is increasing, with hemodialysis as the primary treatment. An arteriovenous fistula serves as a critical lifeline for patients undergoing hemodialysis, yet its function often deteriorates due to complications such as narrowing or blockage of the blood vessels.

Nasal Arteriovenous Malformation Presenting With Sebaceous Hyperplasia on Superficial Biopsy: A Case of Clinicopathological Discordance

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Persistent facial lesions with benign superficial histopathology should prompt suspicion of deeper vascular anomalies. Clinicopathological discordance warrants early vascular imaging, as superficial biopsy may fail to detect underlying arteriovenous malformations, leading to delayed diagnosis and inappropriate management.

Measuring the palpable pulsatility length as a physical examination test in defining the severity of inflow stenosis for hemodialysis fistulas

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2019
Background Pulsatility is an important property of hemodialysis arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) and can be perceived by the fingers as a gradual decrease in strength downstream from the anastomosis along the main trunk of the fistula.

Cardiovascular β‐Adrenergic Receptor Distribution and Function: Influence of Species, Sex, Age, and Tissue

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 3, June 2026.
Estrogen modulates β‐AR signaling in a context‐dependent manner influenced by species, sex, age, tissue, and vascular health, highlighting challenges in translating findings from experimental models to human cardiovascular physiology. ABSTRACT Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading global cause of morbidity and mortality, with notable sex‐specific ...

Transvenous embolization of a Borden III middle cranial fossa dural arteriovenous fistula through the vein of Trolard and superficial middle cerebral vein: A technical case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Endovascular treatment for isolated dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) in the middle cranial fossa (MCF) with pure cortical venous drainage poses challenges, including the absence of a safe access route for transvenous embolization (TVE) and the risk of ...

Blood pressure shifts resulting from a concealed arteriovenous fistula associated with an iliac aneurysm: a case report

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports, 2016
Background A solitary iliac aneurysm (SIA) is more uncommon than an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The aneurysm is located in the deep pelvis and is diagnosed when it reaches a large size with symptoms of compression around adjacent structures and organs or ...

Immediate Relief of Cyanosis Following Surgical Removal of a Large Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation: A Case Report

open access: yes, 2023
Background: Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a rare structurally abnormal communication between the pulmonary arterial and pulmonary venous network, creating a pathologic intrapulmonary right-to-left shunt.

Far Lateral Craniotomy and Occlusion In Situ of a Lateral Medullary Arteriovenous Malformation: 2-Dimensional Operative Video.

open access: yes, 2020
Lateral medullary arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are located in the pia on the lateral medullary surface.1 They are supplied by arterial feeders from the V4 segment of the vertebral artery or posterior inferior cerebellar artery.
