An innovative nipple reconstruction technique for minimizing postoperative scars: The teardrop flap [PDF]
Nipple reconstruction methods include various techniques, such as the local flap technique, free nipple grafting, and filler injection. The local flap technique can provide less donor site morbidity than a free nipple graft, but leaves an additional scar

FLAP: Fast Language-Audio Pre-training [PDF]
We propose Fast Language-Audio Pre-training (FLAP), a self-supervised approach that efficiently and effectively learns aligned audio and language representations through masking, contrastive learning and reconstruction. For efficiency, FLAP randomly drops audio spectrogram tokens, focusing solely on the remaining ones for self-supervision.

Flap Fixation in Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy: A Comparative Study
Background: The usual procedure for nasolacrimal duct obstruction is dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). Flap-based DCR techniques lead to better surgical outcome provided flaps do not dislocate in the post-operative period. Objectives: This study was conducted

A methodology for establishing an ontology‐augmented structural digital twin for fiber‐reinforced polymer structures dedicated to individual lifetime prediction, in this case, a wind turbine rotor blade, is introduced. The methodology resembles the manufacturing as well as the operation of the structure.

Early markers of angiogenesis and ischemia during bowel conduit neovascularization [PDF]
Background Bowel flaps are a good and reliable method to restore the continuity of the aerodigestive tract. Radiated fields, contaminated recipient sites, or depleted recipient vessels may increase the risk for ischemic injury after transfer.

In this study, a cuff‐free, less‐invasive surgical approach for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) by combining ultrathin Y‐shaped kirigami electrodes is developed with a chemically cross‐linked hydrogel adhesive (hydrogel‐kirigami). Unlike conventional cuff implantation, which may damage nerves and nearby critical vessels, this new technique minimizes ...
