Preoperative Surgical Planning
2020Since several decades, minimally-invasive surgery has continuously improved both clinical workflow and outcome. Such procedures minimize patient trauma, decrease hospital stay or reduce risk of infection. Next generation robot-assisted interventions promise to further improve on these advantages while at the same time opening the way to new surgical ...

Skin Ultrasound in Dermatologic Surgical Planning
The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology, 1991High‐resolution ultrasonography was performed on 55 patients with palpable skin lesions, all submitted to surgical excision and to histologic diagnosis. In all the cases, the ultrasound picture was confirmed by the surgical appearance of the lesions.

Analysis of vasculature for liver surgical planning
IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2002For liver surgical planning, the structure and morphology of the hepatic vessels and their relationship to tumors are of major interest. To achieve a fast and robust assistance with optimal quantitative and visual information, we present methods for a geometrical and structural analysis of vessel systems.

The surgical workstation: Surgical planning using generic software
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1993Computer software for rendering and display of three‐dimensional data is becoming readily available for all types of computers. Such programs typically accept data from any source, compute a three‐dimensional volume of data, and display it with a variety of rendering options.

Planning Closure of a Surgical Wound
The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology, 1978The decision as to whether to close or not close a surgical wound, and by what method if closure is decided upon, must be individualized for each patient and each wound. This paper suggests a mental calculation that can be worked out rapidly by the operator in order to make judicious decisions expeditiously.

Planning of the Surgical Strategy
2013IOUS exploration of the liver can have a great impact on surgical strategy. However, more recently the impact of IOUS on operative decision making, when compared with those of preoperative imaging techniques, is reported to be just around 4–7 % [1, 2].

Surgical Task Planning and Learning
This Chapter describes how “top-down” knowledge can be used to plan a robotic task. A crucial concept in modern cognitive systems is deliberation, which is the ability to make decisions that are motivated by reasoning on the available resources, i.e.openaire +1 more source
