Intraoperative and postoperative complications in the surgical treatment of craniosynostosis: minimally invasive versus open surgical procedures [PDF]
OBJECTIVETo compare minimally invasive endoscopic and open surgical procedures, to improve informed consent of parents, and to establish a baseline for further targeted improvement of surgical care, this study evaluated the complication rate and blood transfusion rate of craniosynostosis surgery in our department.METHODSA prospective complication ...

Surgical Robot Platform with a Novel Concentric Joint for Minimally Invasive Procedures
In this paper, a surgical robot platform with a novel concentric connector joint (CCJ) is presented. The surgical robot is a parallel robot platform comprised of multiple struts, arranged in a geometrically stable array, connected at their end points via the CCJ.

Laparoendoscopic single-site simple nephrectomy using a magnetic anchoring system in a porcine model [PDF]
Purpose: Magnetic anchoring devices may reduce the number of port sites needed in laparoscopic surgery. In this study, we prospectively assessed the feasibility of using a magnetic anchoring and guidance system (MAGS) in laparoendoscopic single-site ...

Population size and dynamics fundamentally shape speciation by influencing genetic drift, founder events, and adaptive potential. Small populations may speciate rapidly due to stronger drift, whereas large populations harbor more genetic diversity, which can alter divergence trajectories. We highlight theoretical models that incorporate population size

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Design of a Surgical Port for Minimally Invasive Beating-Heart Intracardial Procedures [PDF]
Direct-access, minimally invasive, beating-heart intracardial procedures have the potential to replace many traditional surgical procedures requiring cardio-pulmonary bypass as long as micro-emboli are prevented from entering the cardiovascular system.

This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.
