Abstract Surplus production models (e.g. the Schaefer, Fox, and Pella–Tomlinson models) aggregate the dynamics of a fish population into a simple function of abundance and do not explicitly represent biological and fishing processes. It has been shown that the shape of the production function depends on biological parameters such as natural mortality,

Impacts of distorted fishery statistical data on assessments of three surplus production models
Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 2011We evaluated the effect of various error sources in fishery harvest/effort data on the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) and corresponding fishing effort (EMSY) using Monte Carlo simulation analyses. A high coefficient of variation (CV) of the catch and effort values biased the estimates of MSY and EMSY.

An Surplus Asset Management Model for Environmental Impact Analysis of EOL Electronic Products
ASME 2009 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, Volume 1, 2009With increasing environmental regulations and waste management costs, environmentally conscious design and manufacturing (ECDM) and surplus asset recovery are becoming a more attractive approach to solve environmental problems. Any company that owns a collection of PCs, printers and other electronic accessories probably needs to manage these assets ...

Harvest in a fluctuating environment and conservative harvest for the Fox surplus production model
Ecological Modelling, 2005Relations between optimal yield and abundance in a fluctuating environment and conditions for a conservative level of harvest were obtained for the Fox surplus production model and compared with those for the logistic surplus production model. Environmental variation was included in the optimization of harvest with the Fox surplus production model to ...
