Adaptive Video Compression for Video Surveillance Applications
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia, 2011This article describes an approach to adaptive video coding for video surveillance applications. Using a combination of low-level features with low computational cost, we show how it is possible to control the quality of video compression so that semantically meaningful elements of the scene are encoded with higher fidelity, while background elements ...

Middleware for video surveillance networks
Proceedings of the international workshop on Middleware for sensor networks, 2006Automated video surveillance networks are a class of sensor networks with the potential to enhance the protection of facilities such as airports and power stations from a wide range of threats. However, current systems are limited to networks of tens of cameras, not the thousands required to protect major facilities. Realising thousand camera automated

Time Scales in Video Surveillance
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2008Events in surveillance video occur over many time scales, but common approaches to background subtraction and video representation are implicitly based on a single temporal scale. In this work, we derive a set of causal filters which define a temporal scale-space representation for the activity at each pixel.

Path detection in video surveillance
Image and Vision Computing, 2002Abstract This paper addresses the problem of automatically extracting frequently used pedestrian pathways from video sequences of natural outdoor scenes. Path models are learnt from the accumulation of trajectory data over long time periods, and can be used to augment the classification of subsequent track data.

HUMAN DETECTION IN SURVEILLANCE VIDEO
International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2014In this paper, we propose an integrated approach for human detection in surveillance video. In our approach, the moving object is extracted by background subtraction; and the background model is updated by the first-order recurrence filter. Then, two complementary features are extracted for moving object classification.

Multi-Camera Video Surveillance
2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS), 2019In this paper we aim to detect and track moving persons inside a target area and to obtain statistics regarding the regions of the area with the highest pedestrian traffic. We present or approach on video data gathering, storage and analysis, aiming to deliver real-time results.

Illegal Video Surveillance on Satellite
2012Signal surveillance, especially the video surveillance is an important issue in satellite management and security. Lawbreakers usually steal channels of the public resources and publish their objectionable or illegal videos. In order to filter out these videos before been received, we have to recognize them in the transmission step on the satellite. In
