This paper surveys the results of observer design for linear time-invariant (L-T-I) deterministic irreducible open-loop systems (OLS), the most basic type of OLS. An observer estimates Kx(t) signal where K is a constant and x(t) is the state vector of the OLS. Thus, an observer can be used as a feedback controller that implements state feedback control

Heuristics and their design: a survey
European Journal of Operational Research, 1981Abstract The purpose of this paper is a design oriented survey of heuristics. Since the main application fields of heuristics are problems of the combinatorial type, an introductory synopsis of combinatorial problems is first presented (Section 2). Heuristics are a specific kind of algorithms; therefore, the position of heuristics within the system ...

Our empirical investigation is based on data on undeclared work collected in 12 surveys of individuals in Germany from April 2001 through March 2007. A survey is the only approach based on field data that allows the testing of the impact of deterrence on such activities, given the current state of research in this field in Germany.

A survey of digital design reuse
IEEE Design & Test of Computers, 2001As integrated circuit technologies advance toward higher performance, greater densities, and increasing system complexity, CAD tools and design methodologies struggle to keep pace. Managing the formidable complexity of the design process is one of the main challenges to IC design.

FPGA Design Automation: A Survey
Foundations and Trends® in Electronic Design Automation, 2006Design automation or computer-aided design (CAD) for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) has played a critical role in the rapid advancement and adoption of FPGA technology over the past two decades. The purpose of this paper is to meet the demand for an up-todate comprehensive survey/tutorial for FPGA design automation, with an emphasis on the ...

summarySurvey design involves planning and documenting questionnaires, sample selection and survey operations. It constitutes a simultaneous solution to numerous interrelated conceptual and practical design issues, more than may usually be settled effectively, or even recognised, in any reasonable time by contemplation alone.
