Heterogeneity in survival analysis [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, 1988
AbstractI discuss the impact of individual heterogeneity in survival analysis. It is well known that this phenomenon may distort what is observed. A general class of mixing (or frailty) distributions is applied, extending a model of Hougaard. The extension allows part of the population to be non‐susceptible, and contains the traditional gamma ...

Sustained Therapeutic Efficacy of Intravenous Plasminogen Concentrate in Pediatric Patients With Type 1 Plasminogen Deficiency: An Analysis of Dosing Parameters and Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.

Genetic architecture of rainbow trout survival from egg to adult [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Survival from birth to a reproductive adult is a challenge that only robust individuals resistant to a variety of mortality factors will overcome. To assess whether survival traits share genetic architecture throughout the life cycle, we estimated ...

Bayesian non-parametric ordinal regression under a monotonicity constraint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Compared to the nominal scale, the ordinal scale for a categorical outcome variable has the property of making a monotonicity assumption for the covariate effects meaningful.

Guidelines for Pediatric Radiotherapy Simulation: A Report From the Children's Oncology Group Radiation Oncology Discipline

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric radiation therapy presents unique challenges compared to adult treatments, including those of immobilization, potential need for sedation, and the critical importance of accurate, reproducible positioning. Additionally, heightened attention to imaging doses is necessary to minimize long‐term toxicity in survivors.

A bivariate mixed model approach for the analysis of plant survival data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Disease resistance is often measured as plant survival, which involves taking multiple counts of plants before and after disease incidence. Often, survival data are analyzed by forming a single derived variable, namely final counts expressed as a ...

Distribution of Pathogens and Predictive Values of Biomarkers of Inflammatory Response at ICU Admission on Outcomes of Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients with Bacterial Superinfections—Observations from National COVID-19 Hospital in Croatia

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
Background: Superinfections contribute to mortality and length of stay in critically ill COVID-19 patients. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and pathogen distribution of bacterial and fungal superinfections of the lower respiratory ...

Improved Early Referral in Long‐Term Survivor Care With Institutional Standardized Practice Among Childhood Leukemia Survivors#

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2018, the Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center Leukemia Program implemented a practice standard to support the transition from treatment to survivorship that includes shared, alternating care between leukemia and survivorship clinicians and a reminder to refer survivors to the long‐term survivor clinic (LTSC) 2 years after ...
