Explicit Runge-Kutta methods for parabolic partial differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Numerical methods for parabolic PDEs have been studied for many years. A great deal of the research focuses on the stability problem in the time integration of the systems of ODEs which result from the spatial discretization.

Soft Skins With Reversible Thickness Morphing: Materials, Mechanisms, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Evolution of electronic skin (e‐skin) technologies toward adaptive, multifunctional soft skins. Phase I highlights early rigid and discrete sensory interfaces. Phase II shows the transition toward flexible, stretchable, and large‐area e‐skin. Phase III captures the emergence of computational e‐skin.

Exact geometric approach to the discretization of fluid-structure interactions and the dynamics of tubes conveying fluid

open access: yes, 2019
Variational integrators for Lagrangian systems have the advantage of conserving the momenta up to machine precision, independent of the time step. While the theory of variational integrators for mechanical systems is well developed, there applications of

Interfacial Failure and Self‐Healing in Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic interfacial self‐healing offers an adaptive route to mitigate coupled mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical degradation in solid‐state batteries. This review connects evolving interfacial failure mechanisms with physical‐flow, chemical‐restoration, stimuli‐responsive, and electric‐field‐assisted repair strategies, highlighting targeted self‐

Extreme Bond Ionicity in Mg─Te Chalcogenides for Ultrathin Low Voltage Selector‐Only Memory beyond the Leakage Scaling Limit

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mg─Te chalcogenides address the leakage scaling trade‐off in ultrathin selector‐only memory. Structural partitioning in multiphase Mg─Te, combined with highly ionic Mg─Te bonding and Hf interfacial engineering, supports reliable 5 nm thickness operation at low write voltage with suppressed leakage current, narrow threshold voltage distributions, 10 ns ...

Memristive Motion‐Streak Neuron for Spatiotemporal Multiple Object Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes motion‐streak neuron hardware using amorphous In–Ga–Zn–O optoelectronic memristors and dynamic memristors for spatiotemporal multiple‐object detection. The motion streak neuron array processes optical and electrical stimuli, allowing speed‐dependent filament relaxation to encode motion trajectories.

Self‐Feeding Living Materials Enabled by Cell Responsive Glycogen Nanoparticles as Metabolic Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Glycogen is introduced as a metabolic battery that offers local and cell‐triggered release of glucose. Glycogen can be stably encapsulated into hydrogel (Dex‐TA) microcapsules that allow for diffusion of glycogen‐degrading enzymes and nutrients.
