Pathogenic Foodborne Bacteria in the Game Meat of Hunted Large Ungulates—A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Zoonotic bacterial pathogens are a major concern for food safety, yet information regarding their occurrence in game meat remains fragmented. This systematic review synthesizes available data on Salmonella spp., Shiga toxin‐producing Escherichia coli (STEC), Listeria spp., Yersinia spp., and Campylobacter spp.

Determining the utility of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for disaster victim identification (DVI)

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 71, Issue 5, Page 2268-2285, September 2026.
Abstract Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology was evaluated as a method for electronically tracking human remains and associated identifying information during mass fatality incidents. Conventional tags are prone to physical damage and failure, which can compromise identification processes and hinder the repatriation of bodies.

Sharp force trauma analysis without animal bones: A proposal for sustainable and ethical bone proxies

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 71, Issue 5, Page 2334-2344, September 2026.
Abstract Sharp force trauma has been the leading cause of homicide in England and Wales for more than a decade. Experimental research on sharp force trauma frequently relies on animal bone as a substitute for human remains, yet their ethical acceptability and comparability to human bone remain contested.

From Singapore's Forests to Parks: Impacts of Urbanization on Dung Beetle Communities in a Tropical Island City

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 5, September 2026.
We investigated Singapore's dung beetle communities using multiple trapping methods in 12 sites with varying degrees of urbanization. Our results show a decline in dung beetle richness and diversity, with changes in community composition and species turnover with increasing urbanization.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Human? Multi‐Scale Niche Partitioning Among Wolves And Mesocarnivores in a Human‐Dominated Landscape

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To determine whether carnivore sympatry is hierarchically structured across spatial scales, with broad landscape filters constraining distributions and fine‐scale behavioral adjustments shaping realized overlap, and to evaluate this framework during large carnivore recolonization in human‐dominated landscapes characterized by novel risks ...
