Development of Suspending Agent from Sodium Carboxymethyl Mungbean Starches

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2006
Three sodium carboxymethyl mungbean starches (SCMMSs) were selected, based on the physicochemical profiles and evaluated as potential pharmaceutical suspending agent in comparison with a sodium carboxymethyl tapioca starch and other five commercial suspending agents.

Carbopol 934: An improved suspending agent for insoluble test compounds

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1960
Abstract 1. 1. Pharmacologic and microbiologic studies indicate that Carbopol 934 is a superior suspending agent, which permits uniform and permanent dispersion of water-insoluble test compounds. 2. 2. Carbopol 934 solutions are chemically stable and do not support fungal or bacterial growth. 3. 3.

Ionic Incompatibilities of SUSPENDING AGENTS

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Practical Pharmacy ed.), 1955
Abstract Many common suspending agents are ionic in nature—usually anionic. Ionic reactions may be useful in controlling taste problems, but they can also lead to inactivation of therapeutic agents. In testing 18 suspending agents, Professor •Miller and Joseph Nakashima of the University of Southern California found that bentonite and Veegum ...

Fluorescence cross sections of bioaerosols and suspended biological agents

Applied Optics, 2009
Laser-induced fluorescence is used to investigate fluorescence properties of unwashed Bacillus thuringiensis and Bacillus subtilis spores, ovalbumin, and washed bacteriophage MS2. A fluorescence detector is calibrated to obtain absolute fluorescence cross sections.

Attapulgite as a Thixotropic Suspending Agent

Journal of ASTM International, 2007
Abstract Attapulgite is a hydrous magnesium aluminum silicate clay mineral with a unique structure made up of colloidal particles called spicules. Gellation takes place following dispersion when the spicules become attracted to each other, become entangled and form the matrix structure that thickens, entraps, and suspends solids.

Interfacial Behavior of Binary Blends of Polymeric Suspending Agents

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2005
A series of experiments was performed to measure the interfacial tension of organic solvent/aqueous solutions of binary blends of suspension-agent systems. The experimental data was modeled with the nonideal adsorbed solution (NAS) model developed by Siddiqui and Franses, which considers interactions between the suspension agents.

Preliminary Evaluation of Shilajit as a Suspending Agent in Antacid Suspensions

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1998
The efficacy of shilajit, a gummy exudate of the plant Styrax officinalis Linn (Family: Styraceae), was evaluated as a suspending agent for the formulation of antacid preparations. Shilajit produced effects on sedimentation volume similar to those produced by sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), but at lower concentrations.

Aborting, suspending, and resuming goals and plans in BDI agents

Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, 2015
Intelligent agents designed to work in complex, dynamic environments such as e-commerce must respond robustly and flexibly to environmental and circumstantial changes, including the actions of other agents. An agent must have the capability to deliberate about appropriate courses of action, which may include reprioritising tasks--whether goals or ...
