Chlorotrifluoroethylene Suspension Polymerization

2002
Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) is ordinarily prepared by emulsion polymerization. A polymer suitable for thermal processing requires coagulation, extensive washing, and postpolymerization workup. Coagulation to provide a filterable and washable solid is a slow, difficult process and removal of surfactant is an important part of it.

Acrylonitrile polymerization in aqueous suspension

Journal of Polymer Science, 1957
AbstractPolymerization of acrylonitrile in dilute aqueous solution initiated by the chloratesulfite redox was studied kinetically and with the aid of the electron microscope. Polymerization rate depended on the [ClO] [H2SO3] product, the monomer content and the sodium lauryl sulfate concentration.

Semibatch styrene suspension polymerization processes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003
AbstractEmulsion and suspension polymerization processes have widely been studied for more than 40 years. Although both polymerization processes are performed in heterogeneous media, each one presents its own typical characteristics, such as the particle size distribution, molecular weight distribution, polymer particle nucleation rate, and ...

Inverse suspension polymerization of acrylamide

Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1991
Abstract The effect of the concentrations of acrylamide, potassium persulphate, initiator, ethoxylated anhydrosorbitol stearate emulsifier, and the aqueous phase/toluene phase ratio on the kinetic relationships of the inverse suspension polymerization of acrylamide was studied by thermometry.

Inverse suspension polymerization of acrylamide

European Polymer Journal, 1982
Abstract The polymerization of acrylamide in inverse suspension is described and compared with polymerization in solution. The influences of various factors upon the molecular weight of the polymer were studied, viz. the concentration of initiator, the procedure of aqueous phase addition, the nature and concentration of emulsifier, the salt ...

Synthesis of Resins via Multiparallel Suspension Polymerization

Journal of Combinatorial Chemistry, 2001
A system for the multiparallel synthesis of polymer resins for solid-phase synthesis is presented, accelerating the preparation of new resins using standard suspension polymerization protocols. The system was evaluated by preparing a range of polystyrene resins with well-defined characteristics.

Morphology of suspension polymerized polyacrylamide

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1985
In the course of studies on the characterization of commercial polyacrylamides used in tertiary oil recovery, samples of BASF Sepaflood suspension polymerized polyacrylamide with varying degrees of hydrolysis were observed using a Hitachi S-450 scanning electron microscope. Figs !

Aqueous Suspension Polymerizations

1989
Polymerization processes in heterogeneous systems are of considerable interest because they offer many practical advantagesin industrial applications.1,2 Among these heterogeneous processes are emulsion and suspension polymerizations of monomers dispersed in an aqueous phase.

Emergency stopper for VCM suspension polymerization

Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, 1996
Abstract Because of the exothermicity of reaction and the necessity of using active initiators for the vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) suspension polymerization reaction, a study was undertaken in order to choose the best polymerization inhibitor for emergency situations such as temperature runaway, power failures, and agitation system ...

Applied kinetics of styrene suspension polymerization

Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering, 2014
In order to describe the kinetics of styrene suspension polymerization, it was proposed to apply the concept of the organized space of experiment formed by the results of kinetic experiments at different combinations of initial conditions, the properties of which can be determined using factor analysis.
