Ego depletion and its role regarding the attitudes and behavior toward sustainable food consumption
ObjectivesThe study’s main goal was to investigate the effect of ego depletion on explicit and implicit attitudes and behavior toward sustainable food consumption in the context of dual-process models describing sustainable behavior.Methods171 student ...

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

On the Beach? Sustainability, Optimal Pollution, and Optimal Population [PDF]
Is it possible that the utility maximizing behavior leads the mankind to destruction? We develop a model with optimal pollution and optimal population in which population growth rate decreases along with pollution.

What's driving sustainable energy consumption? : a survey of the empirical literature [PDF]
The focus of the paper is on the individual decision of energy consumers, and it's relation to sustainable consumption. Consumer behavior is based on individual decisions, but it depends largely on supply-side measures and an appropriate infrastructure ...

The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

On the measurement of sustainability of rural water supply in India: A Supervaluationist–Degree Theory approach [PDF]
The paper proposes an empirical methodology for understanding the nature and behavior of Sustainable Development as a vague and multidimensional concept by a case study of participatory and demand determined Rural Drinking water Supply systems in India ...

Abstract Recent reports have highlighted the importance of changing human behavior if climate change is to be mitigated. In this respect, behaviorally informed interventions are considered promising tools. In particular, these interventions could be applied in the transport sector, where the mitigation potential is high.

Chemotherapies such as doxorubicin can have toxic effects on healthy cardiovascular/heart tissue. Following up on a doxorubicin toxicity study in mice without tumors where nitrate water was cardioprotective (lessened toxicity), this study with tumor‐bearing mice undergoing doxorubicin treatment showed no negative effect of nitrate and nitrite on drug ...

Egocentrism Among Generation Z: The Influence on Sustainable Behavior [PDF]
Generation Z is among the youngest cohorts defined by specialists. Thus, the research questions for this study are ‘How does egocentrism influence the behavior of Generation Z?’, respectively ‘What other factors dictate the sustainable behavior of this ...
