Integrated Ultrasound Device for Precision Bladder Volume Monitoring via Acoustic Focusing and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a conformable wearable ultrasound patch for noninvasive bladder volume monitoring. A flexible PZT array combined with a concave acoustic lens concentrates acoustic energy and improves depth selectivity through the anterior pelvic wall.

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Explainable machine learning identifies anthropogenic activity as a key driver of forest fire severity in China's temperate monsoon region

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing
A clear understanding of what drives forest fire severity is essential for effective fire management, carbon mitigation, and climate adaptation strategies. While natural drivers are relatively well documented globally, anthropogenic influences are rather

The Complier Pays Principle: The Limits of Fiscal Approaches Toward Sustainable Forest Management [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the role and impact of taxation on sustainable forest management. It is shown that fiscal instruments neither reinforce nor substitute for traditional regulatory approaches and can actually undermine sustainability. The paper uses the

Minimum Data Requirements for Sustainable Forest Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The following points may be useful as the beginnings of a checklist: 1. What is the purpose of assessing sustainability of forest management (e.g. operations, planning, policy, international agreements)? 2. What scale is relevant (e.g.
