Schizotypy and sustained attention.
Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 1991We examined sustained attention in 32 schizotypic and 43 normal control subjects from a large, randomly ascertained nonclinical university population. Schizotypy status was determined with the Perceptual Aberration Scale. Sustained attention was measured with the Continuous Performance Test-Identical Pairs.

Sustained attention and intelligence
Intelligence, 1990Abstract The sustained attention of retarded and nonretarded adults was assessed during two 60-min vigilance tests that differed in memory demand. Subjects compared visually presented digit sets that were separated by 3 or 6 s; consecutive matching digit sets served as the target event.

Sustained Attention in Methadone Patients
International Journal of the Addictions, 1982Sustained attention was examined in chronic, high-dose (70-120 mg) methadone patients with a modified Continuous Performance Test (Rosvold et al., 1956) 45 min in duration. Working and nonworking patient groups, and drug-free ex-addict and opiate-naive comparison groups were tested at high, moderate, and low signal rates.

The multiple dimensions of sustained attention
Cortex, 2008Sustained counting (or temporal numerosity judgements) has been one of the key means of investigating anterior attentional processes. Forty-three patients with localised lesions to the frontal lobes were assessed on two tests of the ability to count the number (8-22) of stimuli presented at either a slow (roughly one per 3 sec) or fast (roughly three ...

Sustained Attention and Related Perceptuomotor Functions
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1999The present study examined the relationship between two measures of sustained attention on the Continuous Performance Test (reaction time and omission errors) and several performance measures on neuropsychological tests. Analysis suggests that sustained attention as measured by processing speed predicts performance on neuropsychological measures of ...

Sustained attention in children with autism
Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 1990Although many children with early infantile autism cannot maintain attention to externally imposed tasks, they may continue a repetitive behavior of their own choosing for long periods of time. This study examined the performance of autistic and mental age matched normal children on a Continuous Performance Test of sustained attention.

How facial attractiveness affects sustained attention
Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, 2016The present study investigated whether and how facial attractiveness affects sustained attention. We adopted a multiple‐identity tracking paradigm, using attractive and unattractive faces as stimuli. Participants were required to track moving target faces amid distractor faces and report the final location of each target.

Sustained division of the attentional spotlight
Nature, 2003By voluntarily directing attention to a specific region of a visual scene, we can improve our perception of stimuli at that location. This ability to focus attention upon specific zones of the visual field has been described metaphorically as a moveable spotlight or zoom lens that facilitates the processing of stimuli within its 'beam'. A long-standing

Sustained Attention in Brain Damaged Children
Exceptional Children, 1970This study explored sustained attention in children with convulsive disorders diagnosed as having cortical and subcortical lesions by means of the Continuous Performance Test (CPT). Significant differences were found between and within these 2 groups and a control group.

Focused and Sustained Attention
2013The selection of stimuli and responses for cognitive processing is an essential element of attention. As we have discussed in the preceding chapters, the processes underlying selective attention has been a primary emphasis. Yet, as the cognitive science of attention evolved, it became evident that it was necessary to account for other important aspects
