Citrus Waste as a Sustainable Amendment for Tomato Soilless Substrates Under Deficit Irrigation

open access: yesAgronomy
The citrus processing industry generates large amounts of organic residues whose sustainable management is a major environmental challenge. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of incorporating citrus-derived waste (CW) into coconut-coir-based substrates on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L., cv.

African Twist of Circular Economy: Insights, Policies and Recommendations

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While the circular economy (CE) has gained traction, this paper argues that mainstream CE approaches risk being misaligned in the African context. Drawing on a mixed‐methods synthesis of empirical studies, policy documents and cross‐country examples, the study shows that Africa's CE transition is fragmented and uneven, leaving the continent at

Mapping and Interrelationships of the Drivers of Sustainable Agricultural Practice Adoption Among Smallholder Rice Farmers: A Multi‐Criteria Decision‐Making Analysis for Climate Resilience

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rice production sustains food security and rural livelihoods across many low‐income countries but remains highly vulnerable to climate‐related hazards, including floods, droughts, salinity intrusion and heat stress, which reduce yields and threaten the long‐term sustainability of rice production.

Translating Green Intellectual Capital Into Green Business Strategy: Exploring the Roles of Sustainable Supply Chain Flexibility and Green Organizational Identity

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how green intellectual capital (GIC) drives the development of green business strategy (GBS) in the wine industry by examining the mediating roles of sustainable supply chain flexibility (SSCF) and green organizational identity (GOI).

Photothermal–Magnetocaloric Coupled Evaporators for Actively Adjustable Water Evaporation and Oil–Water Purification in Complex Environments

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A photothermal–magnetocaloric coupled aerogel evaporator is developed for actively adjustable water evaporation in complex environments. Magnetocaloric heating provides active energy compensation under low‐light conditions and disrupts interfacial hydrogen‐bond networks to promote evaporation.

A systematic review of the potential of soil amendments in mitigating drought stress in crops

open access: yesDiscover Agriculture
Background Deficit irrigation (DI) is a key strategy to reduce agricultural water use under increasing water scarcity. To enhance the effectiveness of this approach, soil amendments such as superabsorbent polymers (SAPs), biochar, and bentonite can ...

Unraveling the Interplay Between Collaborative Governance and Experimentation for Transformative Potential in Circular Water Systems: A Dutch Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Freshwater availability is a critical climate change challenge in coastal delta regions. This challenge requires a transformative change toward circular water management. While experimentation and collaborative governance are recognized as enablers of transformative change, their interaction remains complex and insufficiently understood ...

The relationships between the water status of the vine, berry firmness, cracking and sour rot

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Berry cracking is one of the major problems that face grapevine production because it commonly leads to sour rot. Cracking is believed to be partially related to the plant water status, though direct evidence for this assumption is lacking.
