From Data to Decision: Leveraging Essential Variables in Standardizing Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Monitoring and Reporting

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 19, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Fragmented systems for monitoring and assessing biodiversity and ecosystem services limit the ability to track progress at local and national scales in international multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs). This greatly challenges coordinated actions to meet agreed‐upon global commitments.

HABITACÃO E SUSTENTABILIDADE URBANA [PDF]

open access: yesRevista INVI, 2009
This article is a report and comment on two researches conducted by the author herself in two districts of the city of Criciúma-SC, southern Brazil, from the environmental psychology perspective. The first one was on the process of appropriation of space by means of living and inhabiting the place, carried out from 2002 to 2006, and the second one ...

Ungulate prey availability to inform Mexican wolf recovery within its historical range

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.
We estimated the potential ecological carrying capacity for the Mexican wolf based exclusively on ungulate prey biomass estimated from camera trap surveys. In the United States, the potential density estimate is high (21.4–52.7 wolves/1,000 km2) owing to the presence and relatively high densities of elk, mule deer, and white‐tailed deer.

Importance and spatial patterns of invisible fisheries in Amazonian clear‐water rivers as revealed by fisher knowledge and collaboration

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
The graphical abstract highlights the research collaboration with fishers through interviews to record fishers' knowledge and participatory monitoring, to provide data on small‐scale fisheries in three clear water rivers (Trombetas, Tapajos and Tocantins).

Continuous Audio‐Visual Sensor Monitoring Is More Effective Than Human Observers for Detecting Moor Macaques

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 1, January 2026.
Camera traps and PAM outperformed human transects in detecting moor macaques: sensors overcame point transect detectability after 2 days survey. Combining both audio‐visual methods achieved highest detectability, supporting audio‐visual sensors as essential tools for primate monitoring in tropical forests. ABSTRACT The number of species threatened with

Multi‐Scale Habitat Selection of Greater Caribbean Manatees in Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Mexico

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Habitat selection describes population distribution as a function of environmental features. It is a fundamental process with primordial ecological and evolutionary implications. To accurately describe habitat selection, it is important to identify temporal and spatial scales perceived by the population and use these scales when modeling ...
