Range‐wide intraspecific variation reflects past adaptation to climate in a gypsophile Mediterranean shrub

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 7, Page 1533-1549, July 2024.
Despite strong specialization to gypsum soils, past divergent selection related to climatic gradients has driven adaptive population differentiation in Lepidium subulatum. All populations showed high but similar plasticity to drought, indicating that selection did not act against plasticity in harsh environmental conditions.

Dynamics of seedling growth of Vitex parviflora Juss compost substrates bark of Eucalyptus saligna Smith and Eucalyptus pellita F. Muell in forest nurseries

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Ciencias Forestales, 2014

Using explainable machine learning methods to evaluate vulnerability and restoration potential of ecosystem state transitions

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 38, Issue 3, June 2024.
Abstract Ecosystem state transitions can be ecologically devastating or be a restoration success. State transitions are common within aquatic systems worldwide, especially considering human‐mediated changes to land use and water use. We created a transferable conceptual framework to enable multiscale assessments of state resilience and early warnings ...

Mycorrhizal fungi modify decomposition: a meta‐analysis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 6, Page 2763-2774, June 2024.
Summary It has been proposed that ectomycorrhizal fungi can reduce decomposition while arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi may enhance it. These phenomena are known as the ‘Gadgil effect’ and ‘priming effect’, respectively. However, it is unclear which one predominates globally.
