A Magneto‐Mechanically Activated Nerve Guidance Conduit Promotes Peripheral Nerve Regeneration via TIMP1‐Mediated Membrane Tension Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a magneto‐mechanical strategy that incorporates FP@MSCs into an aligned PCL/GelMA nerve guidance conduit. Magnetic stimulation increases membrane tension in FP@MSCs, triggering cytoskeletal remodeling, Schwann cell‐like differentiation, and TIMP1 secretion. TIMP1 activates ITGB1/CD63–FAK signaling in NE‐4C cells, increasing membrane

Is there sexual dimorphism in the presence of Wormian bones? A study of Polish and Lithuanian samples

open access: yesFolia Morphologica
BACKGROUND: Wormian bones (WB) originate from accessory ossification centres and occur irregularly within cranial sutures. They are common; however, some authors claim that in some cases WB may reflect developmental instability.

Soft and Transient Bioelectronics Enabled by Polymer‐Free Ti3C2Tx MXene Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present Ti3C2Tx MXene hydrogel (MXgel) bioelectronics, a soft, flexible, and fully transient platform for high‐fidelity neural recording and stimulation. MXgel bioelectronics exhibit exceptional electrical conductivities, low electrochemical impedances, and high charge injection capacities.

3D‐Printed Corneal Substitutes: Materials, Fabrication, and Preclinical Progress

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Successful clinical translation of 3D‐printed corneal substitutes relies on the interplay between the bioink properties, cellular component, and the fabrication process. These factors influence the critical properties of the construct, including optical transparency, mechanical stability, suture retention, that ultimately govern long‐term stromal ...

Deep‐Tissue Light Generation via Whispering Gallery Mode Lasing From a Commercial Nylon Fiber for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A dyed nylon fiber is implemented inside the scattering phantom and skin tissue. The deep‐tissue light generation via whispering gallery mode lasing is demonstrated, achieving a depth of >50 times transport mean free path in scattering phantom and 3 mm beneath skin.

Biomechanical Dynamics of Cranial Sutures during Simulated Impulsive Loading

open access: yesApplied Bionics and Biomechanics, 2015
Background. Cranial sutures are deformable joints between the bones of the skull, bridged by collagen fibres. They function to hold the bones of the skull together while allowing for mechanical stress transmission and deformation. Objective.

Modulation of miR‐23b Wnt/β‐catenin Axis Strengthens Endothelial Barrier Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Early blood‐brain barrier (BBB) disruption contributes to stroke and CNS disease pathology. miR‐23b was identified as a regulator of BBB integrity in brain endothelial cells. Inhibition of miR‐23b enhanced barrier‐associated properties, promoted repair‐related signaling, and reduced BBB leakage in experimental stroke models, supporting further ...

Targeted Restoration of the Microbial Tryptophan Oxidative Pathway Ameliorates Autism‐Like Behavioral and Synaptic Deficits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis, yet the contribution of specific microbial metabolic pathways remains unclear. Reanalysis of a public ASD cohort revealed reduced functional potential in microbial tryptophan oxidative metabolism.

Bregmatic sutural bone: a case report

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Case Reports, 2023
Background: Sutural bones or wormian bones (an unusual anatomical variant associated with inadequate closure of suture) are extra intrasutural irregular isolated bones that occur additionally at the center of ossification of the skull; along sutures, around sutures or between the cranial sutures formed by bones of the skull vault. Case Presentation:
