Mechanically Spatio‐Chimeric Fibrin Assembly Enables Vascular‐Integrated Muscle Reconstruction for Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...

A modified suture technique for peripheral arterial cardiopulmonary bypass

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Vascular Surgery, 2020
Peripheral cannulation for cardiopulmonary bypass is a frequently used technique in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and reoperation. In patients with a small arterial caliber, the purse suture on the femoral artery leads to marked stenosis after ...

Nocturnal Intraocular Pressure Monitoring With a Soft Contact Lens Sensor for Glaucoma Management

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft contact lens sensor enables continuous, noninvasive monitoring of nocturnal intraocular pressure (IOP) under closed‐eye sleep conditions. By integrating a highly compliant inductive–capacitive circuit onto a commercial lens, the device achieves record sensitivity and stable performance.

Ex-vivo biomechanical evaluation of the application of a novel annulus closure device to closure of annulus fibrosus

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
ObjectiveTo investigate the technical feasibility of applying a simple suture guide device to close the annulus fibrosus (AF) of the intervertebral discs (IVD).Methods30 sheep functional discal units (FDUs) were obtained and subjected to mock discectomy.

Posterior Cruciate Ligament Repair With Suture Tape Augmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) acts as the primary restraint to posterior tibial translation of the knee. Injuries to the PCL are rare in isolation and more often are associated with multiligament injuries to the knee.

Sonoenzymatically Triggered Cascading Degradation of Bioresorbable Materials for On‐Demand Transient Triboelectric Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our SEA strategy provides an efficient and biosafe approach for the on‐demand removal of implanted bioresorbable materials through cascading degradation that couples ultrasound‐triggered rapid mechanical disintegration with subsequent enzymatic degradation.

Ambient Light‐Activatable Luminescent Particle‐Embedded Conformal Patch for Photochemical Tissue Bonding and Photobiomodulated Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a wearable photonic patch integrating room light‐ and sunlight‐activatable luminescent particles (RSLPs) for both photochemical tissue bonding and photobiomodulation. RSLPs harvest ambient light and emit red luminescence to drive chlorin e6–mediated collagen crosslinking.

Knotless Bi-directional Barbed Absorbable Surgical Suture

open access: yes, 2003
With the objective of eliminating the adverse effects of traditional sutures, a novel knotless bi-directional barbed monofilament absorbable suture has been developed that does not require surgical knots for security.

Jump Cut: Montage as Metaphysics in Kubrick’s 2001

open access: yesCINEJ Cinema Journal
Our first impulse is to view Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey as an odyssey in the Homeric manner. Odyssey here refers to a persistent narrative mode that continues to dominate our reception of literature and film, one that privileges continuity and ...
