Magnetic Field‐Assisted Conductive Nerve Guidance Conduit Enabling Peripheral Nerve Regeneration with Wireless Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...

Suture Thread Spline Reconstruction from Endoscopic Images for Robotic Surgery with Reliability-driven Keypoint Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Automating the process of manipulating and delivering sutures during robotic surgery is a prominent problem at the frontier of surgical robotics, as automating this task can significantly reduce surgeons' fatigue during tele-operated surgery and allow them to spend more time addressing higher-level clinical decision making.

Laparoscopic repair of very large hiatus hernia with sutures versus absorbable mesh versus nonabsorbable mesh: a randomized controlled trial.

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery, 2015
OBJECTIVE Determine whether absorbable or nonabsorbable mesh in repair of large hiatus hernias reduces the risk of recurrence, compared with suture repair.

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.

SUTURES USING POLYGLACTIN 910 AND TITANIUM STAPLES: URINARY AND UROLITHOGENIC ASPECTS IN EXPERIMENTAL ILEOCYSTOPLASTIES IN DOGS

open access: yesCiência Animal Brasileira, 2011
Urinary disorders are an important finding in ileocystoplasty, especially uroliths and crystalluria, and partly related to the type of suture material involved in this procedure. The aim of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the

Lateral Brow Lift: A Multi-Point Suture Fixation Technique

open access: yesArchives of Plastic Surgery, 2015
Background Descent of the lateral aspect of the brow is one of the earliest signs of aging. The purpose of this study was to describe an open surgical technique for lateral brow lifts, with the goal of achieving reliable, predictable, and long-lasting ...

The embedded contact homology of sutured solid tori [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic & Geometric Topology 11 (2011), 1001--1031, 2009
We calculate the relative versions of embedded contact homology, contact homology and cylindrical contact homology of the sutured solid torus $(S^1\times D^2,\Gamma)$, where $\Gamma$ consists of $2n$ parallel longitudinal sutures.

A SUTURE HOLDER. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1902
All operators have found some inconvenience in the use of the forceps to hold sutures as they are introduced in abdominal wounds. A great many forceps are necessary if each suture is to be held at each end by a separate forceps. Much time is consumed in clamping and reclamping the forceps, on the part of the operator and his assistant.

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

Optimal Initial Dose of Chloral Hydrate in Management of Pediatric Facial Laceration

open access: yesArchives of Plastic Surgery, 2014
BackgroundChloral hydrate (CH) is the primary agent most commonly used for pediatric sedation prior to diagnostic, therapeutic procedures. In the management of pediatric facial laceration, the initial dose of CH has to balance the need for adequate ...
