Dose‐dependent effects of photobiomodulation on stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth cultured on polylactic acid films: An in vitro study

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
660‐nm photobiomodulation increased metabolic activity, modulated cell cycle distribution, and increased apparent surface coverage in dental stem cells cultured on polylactic acid films, with 4 J/cm2 producing the most consistent response and a greater G2/M fraction than 1 J/cm2.

How Alliances Build Innovation Capabilities but Narrow Their Redeployment in Amazonian Community‐Based Enterprises

open access: yesR&D Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research on strategic alliances often treats supplier capability development as an outcome, but rarely asks which capabilities are built or what they can be used for. We address this through an embedded single‐case study of a lead‐firm‐orchestrated network in the Brazilian Amazon, comprising six community‐based enterprises (CBEs) supplying ...

Passive hyperthermia increases blood circulation in specific regions, largely independent of conduit artery mechanics and cardiac performance

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Passive hyperthermia increases net peripheral and systemic blood flow in humans and other animals, yet the underlying haemodynamic forces that selectively accelerate blood movement remain incompletely characterized. Wave intensity analysis offers insight into the respective contributions of the heart and the vascular system to changes in blood

Passive heat intervention research in women: Systematic review and audit of female representation

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Passive heat interventions (PHIs) are non‐exercise heat‐acclimation strategies that improve physiological markers associated with heat tolerance and reduce vulnerability to heat‐related illness, when exercise is not feasible. However, representation of female participants within this literature remains unclear.

Identification of the individual cardiac contraction threshold during high‐frame‐rate stress echocardiography

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The clinical assessment of cardiovascular function during exercise using stress echocardiography is essential for accurate cardiac diagnosis. However, normal limitations of cardiac deformation responses to increasing physical exertion remain poorly understood.

Cardiometabolic effects of contrast therapy: A systematic review

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The rising prevalence of overweight and obesity, together with associated cardiometabolic disorders, underscores the need for additional strategies alongside established interventions. The growing popularity of contrast therapy – alternating exposure to heat and cold, a practice common in traditional Finnish sauna bathing – has prompted ...

Age‐related loss of hysteresis in the spontaneous vascular sympathetic baroreflex is associated with altered neural rather than mechanical control

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The vascular sympathetic baroreflex is critical for stabilising blood pressure. A notable feature of this reflex is hysteresis, a directional asymmetry in responsiveness during rising versus falling pressure that is evident in young adults but attenuated in older age.

Physical activity partly inhibits autonomic imbalance, immune dysfunction and quality of life induced by chronic shiftwork in policemen

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic shiftwork can impair autonomic cardiovascular regulation and immune homeostasis. However, the interaction between occupational status and physical activity level in military police officers remains incompletely understood. This cross‐sectional factorial study included 102 men stratified according to occupational status and physical ...

Pulmonary arterial mechanoreceptors modulate exercise‐induced sympathetic activation in healthy humans during moderate‐intensity hypoxic exercise

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This randomized cross‐over trial (N = 12) addressed the hypothesis that selective reduction of pulmonary arterial pressure (i.e. manipulation of pulmonary arterial mechanoreceptor activation) during hypoxic exercise would reduce sympathetic outflow (muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA)) in healthy humans.
