Evolution of SV-Wave with Gaussian Profile
International Applied Mechanics, 2017The evolution of a vertically polarized plane transverse wave (SV-wave) propagating in a nonlinear elastic medium is analyzed. The deformation process is described by the Murnaghan model, where the cubic nonlinearity is taken into account. Two approximate approaches are used and the solutions of the corresponding nonlinear wave equations are found for ...

The Fresnel zone for P-SV waves
Geophysics, 1991Abstract Mode-converted (P-SV) reflections in field data contain information about an area on the reflecting boundary, rather than a single point. For unmigrated data, the total area contributing to the observed reflection amplitude is approximated by the Fresnel zone.

The exact elastic impedance for P‐SV wave
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2007, 2007The existing shear-wave elastic impedance (SEI), and converted wave elastic impedance (PSEI) measures are constrained by constant Vs/Vp ratio assumption, small incidence angle and weak contrast across the interface. These assumptions are quite restrictive and their validity is difficult to ascertain. By extending the concept of P-wave Zoeppritz elastic

Displacement by SV Waves in Fluid Saturated Medium
2010 Second International Conference on Computer Research and Development, 2010This paper aims to study the diffusion of SV-waves when the medium is fluid saturated. SV-waves are propagated in the medium designed for studying the diffusive attribute. The mediums are chosen to fall into two distinctive groups: insoluble as well as soluble mediums. Refraction which is related to the wave's slowness is introduced in view of the fact

Effect of topography and subsurface inhomogeneities on seismic sv waves
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1983AbstractThe effect of topography and subsurface inhomogeneity on surface motion is investigated in the case of incident SV waves. Several types of topography, such as a cliff, a cliff with a soft layer and filled land, are considered. Computations are made using a new method combining a particle model with a finite element method.

Image gathers of SV-waves in homogeneous and factorized VTI media
Geophysics, 2004Abstract Reflection moveout of SV-waves in transversely isotro-pic media with a vertical symmetry axis (VTI media) can provide valuable information about the model parameters and help to overcome the ambiguities in the inversion of P-wave data.

Scattering of elastic and SV waves by a rigid elliptic cylindrical inclusion
International Journal of Engineering Science, 1979Abstract The 2-dimensional problem of scattering of obliquely incident P and SV waves by an infinite rigid elliptic cylinder embedded in an infinite, isotropic and homogeneous elastic medium is solved. Approximate formulas are derived for the displacement field, stress tensor, far-field amplitudes and the scattering cross section when the ...

P – AND SV – WAVES FROM UPHOLE SHOOTING*
Geophysical Prospecting, 1965AbstractUphole recordings in sediments very often reveal shear waves. With their velocity and that of the P‐waves Poisson's ratio may be determined, this usually has unexpectedly high values.A number of up‐hole shots were recorded with a linear spread of geophones and with constant gain amplifiers.

Another AVO Cross‐plotting for P‐SV Wave
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2003, 2003Based on the P-SV wave reflection coefficient given by Zheng (1992) and Ramos (2001), another cross-plotting for the converted wave AVO analysis is presented in this paper. The analysis of AVO cross-plotting for P-SV wave indicates that P-SV wave has negative AVO slope and its slope is dependent merely on the change of the ratio of compressionaland ...
