Acute lymphoid leukemia presenting with superior vena cava syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2013
When superior vena cava (SVC) compress or obstructed by internal or external pressure, we encounter to SVC syndrome. The cause of this compression is malignant or benign.

Intravascular Lithotripsy to Facilitate Extraction of Very Old Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices Leads

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background One of the challenges encountered when extracting transvenous leads with long dwell times is the presence of dense calcifications encasing the leads. This is the most likely reason for failure to advance a laser extraction sheath.

Transesophageal Echocardiography and Laryngeal Mask Airway for Placement of Permanent Central Venous Catheter in Cancer Patients with Radiographically Unidentifiable SVC-RA Junction: Effectiveness and Safety

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2007
In patients who require a permanent central venous catheter (PCVC), the usual aim is to put the catheter tip at the superior vena cava and right atrium (SVC-RA) junction.

Development and Validation of a Viability RT‐qPCR Assay for Detecting Infectious Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) is a contagious pathogen associated with significant mortality and economic losses in freshwater aquaculture. Although reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT‐qPCR) enables rapid detection, it does not distinguish between infectious and non‐infectious viral particles, which may lead to overestimation of ...

Superior vena cava (SVC) reconstruction using autologous tissue in two cases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma presenting with SVC syndrome

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2009
Herein, we report two extremely rare cases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) with extended tumor thrombus or mediastinum lymph node metastasis (LNM) involving the superior vena cava (SVC), causing SVC syndrome.

Hoffmann's two‐toed sloth II: Muscle architectural properties in the thoracic limb of Choloepus (Pilosa: Xenarthra)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Two‐toed sloths use their thoracic limbs for more frequent and greater suspensory support than three‐toed sloths and have muscle architectural properties consistent with stability of the pectoral girdle, enhanced flexor force/torque applied at the shoulder and elbow joints, and grip on the support as indicated by their myology. Abstract Two‐toed sloths
