Abstract Sediments deposited by glacial meltwaters (for example, ice‐contact delta deposits) form permeable packages in the subsurface that can act as reservoirs for both water and hydrocarbons. They are also an important source of aggregate for the construction industry.

Petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology of the leucogranites in southernmost Finland [PDF]
In the southernmost part of the Svecofennian province in Finland, leucogranites and migmatites stemming from both igneous and sedimentary protoliths reflect the complex magmatic history of the Svecofennian orogeny between 1.89 and 1.82 Ga.

On the microfossils of Corycium enigmaticum [PDF]
This paper deals with alga-like microfossils found in the about 2 000 m.y. old schist belt situated N of Tampere, SW Finland and belonging to the lower Svecofennian.

Abstract Fault‐ and fracture‐hosted multi‐stage mineral assemblages that formed by fracture reactivation and fluid migration, constitute archives of the tectonic evolution of Precambrian cratons. Complex intergrowth patterns of these mineral records often hinder absolute dating of mineralization events for geological models.

Detrital zircon geochronology of Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks from Jämsä, Central Finland [PDF]
In this short communication, we present new detrital single grain zircon U-Pb data for six metasedimentary rock samples from Jämsä, Central Finland.

Rare Earth Elements in Middle Precambrian Volcanic Rocks of Finland, with a Discussion of the Origin of the Rocks [PDF]
The contents of rare earth elements (REE) have been determined in five Svecofennian metamorphosed volcanic rocks and are compared with those found in the Karelian zone and Recent tholeiites.

Zircon dating of the basalt and felsic dyke in Haveri, SW Finland [PDF]
The E-MORB type Haveri basalt differs from the volcanic arc type rocks in the Tampere belt showing no subduction signature. It is considered to have formed in a marginal basin prior to the volcanic arc. We present here zircon U-Pb dating on two samples.

The Salittu Formation in southwestern Finland, part I: Structure, age and stratigraphy [PDF]
Because of the relatively low metamorphic grade, low strain and well-preserved early structures in volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, the Orijärvi triangle (in the center of the larger Orijärvi area) is one of the few locations in the Svecofennian orogen

Evidence of permafrost in the Paleoproterozoic (c. 1.9 Ga) of Central Sweden
Abstract This paper reports on an ice‐wedge pseudomorph that formed and is preserved in metavolcanic host material that was later transformed to metamorphic solid bedrock. It has been dated to 1,895 ± 5 Ma by U–Pb geochronology of zircon in the bedrock, an Early Proterozoic age.
