Nature of a major tectonic discontinuity in the Svecofennian province of northern Sweden
Abstract The volcanic rocks of the Skellefte ore district (ca. 1.89–1.87 Ga), like other volcanic complexes of similar age in the Svecofennian orogenic province, have been regarded as juvenile arc material developed over a contemporaneous subduction zone, and subsequently accreted to the continent, during a period of very rapid crustal growth.

THE STRUCTURE OF LOW-VELOCITY ZONES IN THE MANTLE OF THE NORTHERN EUROPE
The areas of low-velocity middle mantle shift into the transition zone are distinguished according to 3-d P-velocity model of the Fennoscandian shield mantle and its surroundings using Taylor approximation method.

Post-collisional crustal deformation of the Svecofennian region involved 1) lateral escape movements along crustal-scale dominantly dextral shear zones that roughly correspond to boundaries between volcanic and sedimentary terranes, and 2) crustal ...

Geochemistry, provenance, and tectonic setting of Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic units of the Estonian Alutaguse region, eastern Fennoscandia [PDF]
This research focuses on the geochemical analysis of Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic units in the Alutaguse region of northern Estonia, shedding light on the geodynamic evolution during the Svecofennian orogeny in eastern Fennoscandia ...

Petrophysical Properties of Rocks of the Northern Ladoga
Northern Ladoga is a region of Southeastern Fennoscandia with complex geological and tectonic structure. It is crossed by the Raakhe–Ladoga junction zone of the Karelian craton and the Svecofennian orogen.

In order to characterize the post-Svecofennian tectonothermal evolution of the Fennoscandian Shield, 40Ar-39Ar biotite and some 40Ar-39Ar muscovite geochronological data are reported from a total of 30 surface outcrop and 1000 m long borehole samples at ...
