Morphophysiological dynamics of the proximal post‐testicular ducts in Crotalus durissus Linnaeus, 1758 (Squamata: Viperidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The organization and function of reptilian excurrent ducts remain poorly characterized, particularly in Neotropical snakes. We provide the first integrative morphological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural analysis of the proximal post‐testicular ducts of Crotalus durissus across reproductive stages.

Improving HVRT capability of wind farm with ultracapacitor and SVG cooperative control

open access: yesReli fadian
Aiming at the problem of wind turbine off-grid due to lack of high voltage ride through (HVRT) capability of wind power, the internal mechanism of wind turbine off-grid due to voltage increase of junction point caused by DC fault is elaborated.

Improved Reactive Current Detection Method of SVG

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The static VAR generator (SVG) is an important device in flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) for the development of smart grids. Based on the basis principle of SVG and instantaneous reactive power theory, the conventional ip–iq and dq methods have ...

Simplified SPAL technique to provide adequate peri‐implant phenotype: A pilot study

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Correction of peri‐implant bone dehiscence (PIBD) and optimization of the peri‐implant soft‐tissue phenotype are critical for long‐term peri‐implant tissues stability. A simplified, one‐stage, transmucosal variant of the subperiosteal peri‐implant augmented layer (sSPAL) technique was appraised and evaluated.

Novel insights on causes of disproportionate trends between particulate NO3 and NOx emissions in Canadian urban atmospheres [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics
Particulate nitrate (NO3-) is a key target for air pollution control; however, its response to NOx emission reductions remains uncertain, particularly in cold climates. This study assesses long-term trends in fine- and coarse-mode NO3- (f-NO3- and c-NO3-)

Regulatory Effects of Ammonium Chloride in an In Vitro Model of Hepatic Encephalopathy: Mechanisms Involving ACTA2‐Mediated Cytoskeletal Remodeling

open access: yesiLABMED, EarlyView.
Hyperammonemic stress suppresses ACTA2 expression and induces F‐actin cytoskeletal remodeling in astrocytes. The resulting inhibition of FAK/c‐Src signaling contributes to apoptosis, G2/M arrest, AQP4‐mediated swelling and junction‐associated proteins dysregulation, revealing a central role for ACTA2‐dependent cytoskeletal dysfunction in hepatic ...

Afforestation Partially Offsets Losses of Soil Conservation Services and Carbon Stock From Direct and Indirect Urban Expansion in China

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Urban expansion has exerted both direct and indirect impacts on natural land and ecosystem services it supports, driven by increasing population and food demand, yet these underlying pathways remain insufficiently distinguished. Here, we quantified the losses of soil conservation services (water erosion regulation and sandstorm prevention) and

Ecological significance of fruit displays in Myrtaceae: relationship between fruit colour, maturation stage, attractiveness and seed germination

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Fruit colour has long fascinated scientists and is widely considered an evolutionary adaptation to attract both avian and mammalian frugivores. While fleshy fruits play a key role in plant–animal interactions by promoting seed dispersal, the functional significance of colour variation, particularly multicoloured displays during ripening, remains poorly

Regulatory role of permanent gullies in dissolved nitrogen and phosphorus transport under different rainfall types [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences
Understanding how permanent gullies regulate the transport of dissolved ammonium (NH4+), nitrate (NO3-), and phosphorus (P) in runoff delivered from agricultural hillslopes under different rainfall types is essential for controlling non-point source ...
