Therapeutic Galectin‐3 Apheresis Improves Sepsis Outcomes Through Coordinated Neutrophil Modulation and Endothelial Barrier Preservation: A Translational Study

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Gal‐3 apheresis reduces neutrophil hyperactivation (CXCL2/CXCL8, MPO, NETs), preserves endothelial barrier function (tight junctions, vWF/VCAM‐1/ICAM‐1), and attenuates PI3K/AKT/HIF‐1α signaling. These coordinated effects significantly improve hemodynamics, reduce pulmonary edema (ELWI), lower vasopressor and fluid requirements, and increase survival ...

Prediction Model for Etiologic Differentiation of Isolated Vestibular Syndrome in Emergency Settings

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 3, Page 504-516, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for differentiating central from peripheral etiologies in patients with isolated vestibular syndrome (VS). Methods In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, 506 patients with isolated VS from five hospitals were divided into derivation (n = 301) and validation (n = 205)

Targeting DNA‐LNPs to Endothelial Cells Improves Expression Magnitude, Duration, and Specificity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
Attaching antibodies against endothelial cell surface proteins redirects the delivery and expression of DNA‐lipid nanoparticles to organs of interest. Our targeted nanoparticles enable organ‐selective DNA expression in the endothelium of the lungs, brain, or spleen, providing a therapeutic platform for dozens of endothelial‐centric diseases.

Rotatorische Otolithenfunktionsprüfungen in Kombination mit mobiler SVV

open access: yes, 2014
Einleitung: Rotatorische Untersuchungen zur Überprüfung der Funktion der Otolithenorgane sind gut beschrieben. Hierzu zählen die exzentrische Rotation und die Schrägachsenrotation. Eine neue Methode ermöglicht die Messung der subjektiven visuellen Vertikale in tragbarer Form.[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]

Cephalalgia—A “Tricky” Symptom for the Cardiologist: Acute Coronary Syndrome Presenting as Headache

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Rarely, headache may be the primary or sole symptom of acute myocardial ischemia; clinicians should recognize such atypical presentations and obtain an electrocardiogram and cardiac biomarkers to establish the diagnosis and guide urgent treatment.

Avoiding the Pitfall: Ectopic Pelvic Kidney Mimicking a Pelvic Mass in a Patient With Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections. A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
A 55‐year‐old woman with recurrent UTIs and a fixed pelvic mass on examination was intially suspected of having a neoplasm. Contrast‐enhanced CT revealed an ectopic pelvic kidney (yellow arrow, adjacent to uterus U), confirming an asymptomatic congenital anomaly as the cause. Imaging is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and iatrogenic injury.

Correlation between Variation of Aortic Peak Blood Flow Velocity, Inferior Vena Cava Diameter Variation and Stroke Volume Variation in Children

open access: yesPediatric Respirology and Critical Care Medicine, 2019
Background: Non-invasive monitoring using ultrasound or Doppler assists in quick haemodynamic assessment and helps to improve outcomes in critical care. Parameters including aortic peak blood flow velocity variation (ΔVpeak), inferior vena cava diameter ...

Coping with racism: Qualitative profiles of adolescents' responses to racial‐ethnic discrimination

open access: yesJournal of Research on Adolescence, Volume 36, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Adolescents employ diverse coping strategies to navigate racial‐ethnic discrimination, yet research often overlooks how these strategies co‐occur. Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 33 African American, Latinx, and Asian American high school students living in the southeastern United States (55% girls, 45% boys; Mage = 16.03 ...
