The Mangrove Swamp Rice Production System of Guinea Bissau: Identification of the Main Constraints Associated with Soil Salinity and Rainfall Variability

open access: yesAgronomy
Mangrove swamp rice production (MSRP) refers to rice cultivation in former mangrove soils that have been anthropogenically modified for food production. The method utilizes the largest possible storage of fresh water to desalinate the soils and make them

Spectroscopic Evidence of Edge‐Localized States in an Antiferromagnet Topological Insulator NdBi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spin‐polarized scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) in conjunction with quasiparticle interference, we successfully identify distinct signatures of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic terminations in NdBi, a rare‐earth monopnictide exhibiting non‐trivial topology and magnetism. We demonstrate that step edges on ferromagnetic surfaces host well‐

Deciphering the Evolution Pattern of Structural Variations Overlapped With Repetitive Sequence During Cattle Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The authors complement bovine pan‐SV with massive novel structural variations (SVs) identified through long‐read sequencing of 83 globally distributed cattle breeds. Repetitive sequence‐mediated SVs (rep‐SV) exhibit distinct dynamic patterns throughout cattle sub‐speciation and/or domestication processes, including uneven distribution between chr‐X and

Floristic Composition and Diversity of the Swamp Forests of Doumaintang, East Cameroon Region

open access: yesAsian Journal of Environment & Ecology
In the wetlands of the Congo Basin, swamp forests represent environments of ecological importance. It is therefore important to know the floristic diversity and the way in which species function in order to conserve them more effectively. Three types of swamp were selected for the collection of floristic data: swamps on flat ground (MTP), swamps on ...

Bio‐templated Piezoresistive Yarn for High Sensitivity Movement Monitoring Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a conductive coating by biotemplating silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) onto a Potato virus A (PV) particle network, cross‐linked on co‐polyamide‐starch (CoPA‐SS) coils. The combination of CoPA‐SS's shape memory and PV‐AgNP's piezoresistivity achieved high strain sensitivity and minimal hysteresis.

SWAMP MOKHOVOE AROUND R.P. GLOTOVKA INZA DISTRICT OF THE ULYANOVSK REGION - A VALUABLE BOTANICAL OBJECT

open access: yesSamara Journal of Science, 2015
On the territory of the Ulyanovsk region upland sphagnum bogs are rare plant communities. For the first time a description of the flora upland sphagnum bogs Mokhovoe 1.5 km south of the r.p. Glotovka Inza district of the Ulyanovsk region. This is valuable in the Ulyanovsk region mount, oligotrophic bogs with birch and shrub-cotton grass-sphagnum ...

A review of the Nearctic genus Prostoia (Ricker) (Plecoptera, Nemouridae), with the description of a new species and a surprising range extension for P. hallasi Kondratieff & Kirchner

open access: yesZooKeys, 2014
The Nearctic genus Prostoia (Plecoptera: Nemouridae) is reviewed. Prostoia ozarkensis sp. n. is described from the male and female adult stages mainly from the Interior Highland region encompassing portions of Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Interim report on the hydrologic features of the Green Swamp area in Central Florida [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
The Green Swamp area in central Florida is another area where man is developing agricultural land from marginal land. Though the area is by no means as extensive as that of the Everglades, the present efforts for its development are similar to the ...

Overlaid Conductive Silver Nanowire Networks on Gas Diffusion Electrodes for High‐Performance Electrochemical CO2‐to‐C2+ Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a rational electrode design for electrochemical CO2 reduction, employing Ag nanowire networks as both current collectors and tandem catalysts. The Ag nanowires are deposited onto the catalyst layer, forming a stacked PTFE/catalyst/Ag nanowires configuration.

Regional and global under-recording of large explosive eruptions in the last 1000 years

open access: yesJournal of Applied Volcanology, 2018
Recording probabilities for large-magnitude (M≥4) explosive eruptions are assessed regionally over the last 1000 years, using the LaMEVE database. Although the uncertainty is large, due to the scarcity of large eruptions, it does not swamp differences in
