Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

On the term structure of default premia in the Swap and Libor markets [PDF]

open access: yes
Existing theories of the term structure of swap rates provide an analysis of the Treasury-swap spread based on either a liquidity convenience yield in the Treasury market, or default risk in the swap market.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

SWAP-70 promotes glioblastoma cellular migration and invasion by regulating the expression of CD44s

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2019
Background Switch-associated protein 70 (SWAP-70) is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that is involved in cytoskeletal rearrangement and regulation of migration and invasion of malignant tumors.

Optimal two-qubit quantum circuits using exchange interactions

open access: yes, 2005
The Heisenberg exchange interaction is a natural method to implement non-local (i.e., multi-qubit) quantum gates in quantum information processing. We consider quantum circuits comprising of $(SWAP)^\alpha $ gates, which are realized through the exchange

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Short Wavelength Automated Perimetry and Peripapillary Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer in Early Diabetes

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Ophthalmology, 2016
Objective: To investigate the significance of short wavelength automated perimetry (SWAP) in detecting retinal functional impairment in early diabetic patients without retinopathy and with mild non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR).

Heterogeneous Yield Curves and Basis Swaps [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a framework of heterogeneous yield curves of agents based on the pricing kernel approach in order to model LIBOR and basis swap rates. Each yield curve may imply different prices of assets but is consistent with swap rates, basis swap rates ...

Spin swap gate in the presence of qubit inhomogeneity in a double quantum dot

open access: yes, 2004
We study theoretically the effects of qubit inhomogeneity on the quantum logic gate of qubit swap, which is an integral part of the operations of a quantum computer.
