Feeding and grazing management for dairy cattle: opportunities for improved production

open access: yes, 2009
An adequate feed intake is an important prerequisite to realize high milk production in dairy cows, especially during grazing. The analysis of feed intake behaviour can assist in understanding variation in daily intake and in improving its prediction ...

The dominance of non‐native plants over native plants increases with the number of global change factors

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Global environmental change and plant invasion are both recognized as key indicators of the Anthropocene. Still, how the number of co‐acting global change factors (GCFs) influence invaded plant communities remains unclear, even though in nature GCFs usually act together rather than alone.

Grazing behaviour of domestic horses on perennial ryegrass pastures and the effect of sward height

open access: yes, 2008
Grazing behaviour of domestic horses on perennial ryegrass pastures and the effect of sward height On paddocks used for horse grazing, swards are often depleted by overgrazing and patches of bare ground appear due to resting and walking behaviour of the ...

Localization Through Coordination? Implementing the Humanitarian‐Development‐Peace Nexus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

open access: yesPublic Administration and Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a global concept and initiative, the Humanitarian‐Development‐Peace Nexus (HDPN) aims to improve integration across the traditionally siloed humanitarian, development, and security sectors, while foregrounding the involvement of local actors.

Steers production in integrated crop-livestock systems: pasture management under different sward heights

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different grazing intensities on forage production and animal performance of yearling steers kept under permanent grazing in an integrated crop-livestock system.

Effect of sward height and vertical distribution of clover on performance of cashmere goats in autumn

open access: yes, 1997
To investigate the effect of sward height on liveweight change in goats grazing grass/white clover swards, an experiment was conducted from mid-August to mid-November with groups of non-lactating female cashmere goats that continuously grazed perennial ...

Soybean induced resistance to Spodoptera eridania herbivory

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SOD, CAT, APX, PPO, KTI, and MDA levels were higher in the resistant soybean. S. eridania herbivory increased H2O2 and MDA, but decreased SOD and PPO levels. S. eridania herbivory increased KTI activity only in the resistant variety. Isoquercitrin and daidzin were exclusive to resistant and susceptible soybeans.

Automated Lawn Maintenance: An Agronomic and Operational Review of Turf Health, Biodiversity, and Field Performance

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Grass mowing is one of the most resource‐consuming activities in green maintenance, whether in private areas such as home gardens or in public spaces like urban parks. In recent years, concerns related to climate change, human health, and sustainability have become increasingly prominent in green maintenance, leading manufacturers and industry

Detecting Plateau Zokor (Eospalax baileyi) Mounds in UAV Imagery of Alpine Meadows Using Deep Learning Algorithms

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We developed PZM‐YOLO to automatically detect plateau zokor mounds in UAV imagery of alpine meadows. The model achieved reliable detection of small and densely distributed mounds under complex backgrounds, outperforming the baseline YOLOv5s. This framework supports mound counting, mound position, rodent impact assessment, and grassland restoration ...
