This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Investigation of Space Weather Effects by Swarm Magnetic Field Data: The SFAC Index
The three Swarm satellites provide an optimum, low Earth orbit (LEO) and multi‐spacecraft platform, to explore for the first time the local correlation between field‐aligned currents (FACs), auroral electrojets, and magnetic perturbations at the Earth's ...

Orbit determination of space objects based on sparse optical data [PDF]
While building up a catalog of Earth orbiting objects, if the available optical observations are sparse, not deliberate follow ups of specific objects, no orbit determination is possible without previous correlation of observations obtained at different ...

PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Destruction of Binary Minor Planets During Neptune Scattering
The existence of extremely wide binaries in the low-inclination component of the Kuiper Belt provides a unique handle on the dynamical history of this population. Some popular frameworks of the formation of the Kuiper Belt suggest that planetesimals were

A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Validation of AMPERE Magnetic Perturbations Using Swarm
The Active Magnetosphere and Planetary Electrodynamics Response Experiment (AMPERE) provides continuous global maps of Birkeland currents, using magnetic field perturbations (dB) obtained by calibrating and detrending data from engineering magnetometers ...

The Puzzling Mutual Orbit of the Binary Trojan Asteroid (624) Hektor [PDF]
Asteroids with satellites are natural laboratories to constrain the formation and evolution of our solar system. The binary Trojan asteroid (624) Hektor is the only known Trojan asteroid to possess a small satellite. Based on W.M.

The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.
