Plant‐derived nanovesicles as potential drug delivery systems for topical use: Emerging applications in dermatology and cosmetology

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived nanovesicles (PDNVs) are naturally secreted by fruit, vegetables, seeds, leaves and other natural sources. Used as drug delivery systems, they can combine intrinsic therapeutic activity, enhanced skin permeation and cargo‐carrying capacity, suitable for dermatological and cosmetic applications including hydration, antioxidant/anti ...

Extramammary Paget's disease. Arising in knee region in association with sweat gland carcinoma.

open access: yesArchives of pathology & laboratory medicine, 1984
We report a case of extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) arising in the knee region in association with an underlying sweat gland carcinoma. Inguinal lymph node metastases were present initially. Paget's cells, intradermal tumor cells, and metastatic tumor cells showed similar reactions to a variety of histochemical stains and positive results with ...

Wild Pigs (Sus scrofa) Stand Their Ground: Investigating Flight Response, or Lack Thereof, to Perceived Predation Risk 野猪坚守原地:探究其面对感知捕食风险时的逃逸反应 (或无逃逸行为)

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
We used automated behavioral response systems (ABRs) to assess invasive wild pig (Sus scrofa) behavioral response to four auditory playbacks: humans, coyote vocalizations (Canis latrans), pigs in distress, and barred owl (Strix varia) calls. Wild pigs had a significant flight response to human playbacks, but 68% of pigs did not flee.

Segmental Pallor and Hair Loss in a Patient With Ross Syndrome: Case Report

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 30‐year‐old male sought medical consultation due to sudden anisocoria. Clinical examination confirmed Adie's tonic pupil. Subsequently, the presence of segmental anhidrosis with compensatory hyperhidrosis and areflexia established the diagnosis of Ross syndrome.

Advent of NK3R Antagonists for the Treatment of Menopausal Hot Flushes: A Narrative Review

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The menopause transition is marked by symptoms predominantly attributed to declining oestrogen levels. Approximately 80% of women experience associated symptoms, and 25% experience severe symptoms. The commonest are vasomotor symptoms (VMS), collectively referring to hot flushes and/or night sweats.

Occupational Physical Activity Is Negatively Associated With Semen Quality

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Lifestyle factors have been associated with semen quality and have been implicated in the reported global decline in semen parameters. Moderate physical activity has been linked to improved semen quality; however, the association between occupational physical activity and semen quality is limited.

An intracellular recombinant single‐chain variable antibody fragment as a new class of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is a ubiquitous second messenger involved in human (patho‐)physiology. Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) is a major cGMP hydrolyzing enzyme in many cell types including vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Several highly selective PDE5 inhibitors are in clinical use. However, there are currently no

Targeting hexokinase 2 to induce breast cancer cell senescence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is a key enzyme linked to high tumour cell proliferation. Its inhibitors such as 3‐bromopyruvic acid (3‐BP) induce cancer cell death, highlighting HK2 modulation as potential anti‐cancer treatment. However, standard chemotherapies often cause the emergence of senescent cancer cells, which goes along with cell ...
