Hidradenocarcinoma: A rare sweat gland neoplasm presenting as small turban tumor of the scalp

open access: diamondIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2015
Hidradenocarcinomas are very rare malignant sweat gland tumors that possess an infiltrative and/or low metastatic potential. Here we describe an interesting case of hidradenoma on the fronto-parietal region of the scalp of an elderly female, part of which had developed carcinomatous changes, infiltrating up to the pericranium.

Adnexa Cutis: Demystifying the plethora of Pilosebaceous and Sweat gland neoplasms

open access: closedIndian Journal of Pathology and Oncology, 2016
Background: The neoplasms of the adnexa cutis arising from the pluripotent stem cell show differentiation towards one of the four adnexal cell lines i.e. follicular, sebaceous, eccrine and apocrine type. Categorizing these neoplasms into specific cell line differentiation and into benign or malignant is important, as malignant adnexal neoplasms are ...

Combined melanocytic and sweat gland neoplasm: cell subsets harbor an identical HRAS mutation in phacomatosis pigmentokeratotica [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Cutaneous Pathology, 2014
Phacomatosis pigmentokeratotica (PPK) is characterized by the co‐existence of epidermal nevi and large segmental speckled lentiginous nevi of the papulosa type. PPK, previously explained as ‘twin spot’ mosaicism due to the postzygotic crossing‐over of two homozygous recessive mutations, has recently been shown to derive from one postzygotic activating ...

Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma of the eyelid – A diagnostic challenge

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2023
Skin adnexal or sweat gland neoplasms are rare adnexal tumors that pose a diagnostic challenge for both ophthalmologists and pathologists. Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is an uncommon low grade carcinoma of eccrine ducts with a

Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) of the eyelid: Clinicopathologic features, immunohistochemical findings and review of literature

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Sweat gland neoplasms are rare adnexal tumors that pose a diagnostic challenge for both, ophthalmologists and pathologists. Endocrine, mucin producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC), considered to be analogous to the solid papillary mammary carcinoma is ...

Hidradenocarcinoma: Five Years of Local and Systemic Control of a Rare Sweat Gland Neoplasm with Nodal Metastasis [PDF]

open access: goldCureus, 2018
Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare and locally aggressive tumor rendering a poor prognosis. Furthermore, very few cases present with nodal metastasis. Diagnosing such an entity, and then differentiating it from a benign counterpart, poses a great challenge to the clinicians.

Epidemiological and histopathological analysis of 40 apocrine sweat gland carcinomas in dogs: a retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2016
Introduction: Apocrine sweat gland carcinomas (ASGCs) are malignant neoplasms of dogs and other animals, rarely reported worldwide. The aim of this study was to summarise the occurrence of this cancer in a population of dogs in Poland between 2009 and ...

The Role of (Line‐Field Confocal) Optical Coherence Tomography and Reflectance Confocal Microscopy in the Diagnosis of a Malignant Eccrine Differentiated Sweat Gland Tumour With Features of a Porocarcinoma and an Eccrine Spiradenocarcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Malignant eccrine differentiated sweat gland tumours, including porocarcinoma and eccrine spiradenocarcinoma, are rare and aggressive neoplasms that pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This case report aims to describe the role of in‐vivo and ex‐vivo line‐field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC‐OCT), optical coherence ...

Metastatic Endocrine Mucin-Producing Sweat Gland Carcinoma to the Lung: A Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesCureus, 2023
Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is a rare, low-grade neuroendocrine neoplasm previously believed to be indolent in nature. There have only previously been six reported cases of metastases and none of thoracic structures.
